That would never happen. If anyone trade for him they'd only do so if he signed a long term extension first.

Because you guys perceive this contract to be the kiss of death, somehow now this amazing force of a player is now reduced to the worth of a simple draft pick. Great players get paid. Lions players are no different.

This team was 0-16 with everyone's favorite WR before Suh got here. The lack of loyalty to the best player we have ever had is disturbing.
I hope this is just an exaggeration trying to prove a point. Suh isn't even the best player on the current team. Talented? Yes, but until he stops becoming a walking bullseye for officials, he isn't even in the conversation. I am not even going to bring up the father of certain Stanford sophomore.

If the Lions put Suh on the trade block, you'd have 31 other teams lining up to throw multiple 1st round picks and players at the Lions.

With his current salary issues, I don't think you could get a sharpened pencil for Suh

0-16 with Stafford and CJ and got blown out every week until Suh came along.

Green Bay currently has the highest paid offensive player in the NFL and the 3rd highest defensive player in the NFL currently under contract. They'd be one of several teams lining up to trade the hapless Lions for the right to own the contract to Suh.

If Suh doesn't get realistic in his expectations, why would anyone trade for a player that will be released.

Source?? Last I heard they were going to address RW's contract next offseason. And, yes, I would trade Wilson before I gave him the amount of money that Stafford is making.

Not even sure how to reply. Clearly spreading money around is most important to some and not winning.

Didn't the Lions go 0-16 in 2008? Wasn't Stafford drafged in April, 2009?

Ya you're right but no way were you saying Stafford is > Suh or maybe you were.

100% Suh will be re-signed. This whole thread is fucking immature and stupid. I blame the local writers. Fans don't know any better.

Not saying that at all, just pointing out who the best player on the roster had throwing him the football that year

No doubt. I just hope the Lions don't feel they are (re)negotiating with a gun stuck to their head. I don't know, Lions fans I talk to are pretty knowledgeable. some are even on these boards.

Suh holds all the cards in regards to his contract for 2015. He has the option to void the final year, 5 days after next years Super-Bowl. (is how I interpret it).

Mayhew will re-sign him. Right now, Suh is his "best" (no pun intended) draft pick to date, IMO.

Suh way more valuable than CJ. CJ was breaking records with Kitna and going 0-16 before Suh made us competitive. He's also younger, and injury free.

What I learned from this board this year so far:

* Our CB's are fine and will get better. 2 INT is nothing to worry about.

* Calvin is our best player.

* draft another 1st round WR anyways.

* Trade Stafford.

* Trade Suh.

* Look at my 7 round mock with multiple trades. Who wouldn't trade Suh for all of this???

Love you guys, but you're obsessed with money and draft picks the same way the American media is obsessed with race and sex.

I assume they all have an asterisk because they are subject to the the writer's opinion.

You also forgot to add about the black eye that Suh has given the Lions reputation. Whether deserved or not, the root cause cannot be disputed.

As for INT's, 2 is a low total but intercepting the ball is not the main goal of a CB. Preventing completions is (our CB's largely failed there as well).

A 2nd WR is one of our two biggest needs (see above) but I just think it can be more efficiently filled in the FA market.

Nobody wants to lose someone of Suh's talent. Most want him to be re-signed at a fair (market) price.

Your dramatizing your position(s).

Which is totally subjective, and often comes with the delusion that every player who would benefit from that money being saved and thus spread around will be good.

Lions fan mind: Trade Suh for picks = every player drafted using picks will be awesome and every player we use that money to sign will be awesome too.

HUH? The money isn't "spread around", it is used to acquire better talent and Suh isn't scarificing anything if he is signed at his fair market value.

Spread around to players you think will be good. Basically gambling away a sure thing for a bunch of unknowns.

I do not recall one Lions fan in here stating our CB's are fine. As a matter of fact, I think it's quite the opposite. Most everyone in here knows the CB's have underperformed in the last 2 yrs. Houston had a bad year in 2013 compared to 2012. 4 CB's drafted in the last 2 years, of which Greenwood was out the entire 2012 season and Bentley for most of 2012. Slay gets benched after 2 games in his rookie season, not uncommon as Revis was benched 3x in his rookie season. It takes time to develop CB's and you know this. I sure hope, for your sake, Mayhew drafts Dennard (not that I think he's a sure-fire shutdown cb and worthy of the 10th overall pick, but I'm not a Scout either).

We all have opinions and they'll vary from one another.

And despite having the highest paid player in the league they have $28.5m in cap space and numerous different contracts they could very easily re-work to free up easily enough to get to $40m in space.

This is where I go bat shit crazy of Millenhew. I cant believe there is anybody on this board who would even bother to try and apply the brakes in an attempt to avoid running over this miserable dumbass. I'd jam the accelerator to the fucking floor.

He put the team in this place, its been on his watch that all these restructurings took place, all this dead money got created as it was just shoved back further and further. I had said adnauseam that there are consequences to doing that and the way that Suh has the Lions by the balls is one of them. He absolutely owns Mayhew, he's his jailhouse bitch and everybody knows it.

Jay-Z will start by asking for Suh to be the highest paid non-QB in the league. That player is actually CJ. We will then move up to having 3 of the top 10 largest contracts in the league. If trading Suh is really not an option worth considering just watch what happens when he doesnt sign an extension right now. By the time you fill out the roster, put in place the practice squad, and sign the rookies that MIGHT get you under the cap after releasing Leroy Harris. It will be really close.

Kellen Moore will be your back-up QB, Akers will be back at the vet minimum with the MSB, and a helluva lot of UDFA's are going to make this team.

How many years do you guys think CJ realistically has left? 2? 3? 4 tops? At some point he is gone. Do we agree the Lions are ok this year when they re-sign Suh?

If they traded Suh, EVERYTHING this franchise sold you about winning this year is gone. You guys know that, right.

whoops, I forgot about the tender offer contract for Bell. That will be either $2m or $3m depending on if its a first or second rd tender. Gotta find someone else to cut now cause there isnt enough cap space otherwise. well, maybe we can restructure someone else's deal to find it.

:yahoo:Realistically, CJ has about 4 elite years left and another 3 of good production, we all know his work ethic is elite. That is also the same reason why resigning Suh is a good idea, elite player with elite work ethic. What more do you want out of your highest paid players?
