I don't know how many of you guys watched it or cared about it, but if you didn't watch you missed Robinson Cano blast a home run in the 10th inning to put the AL ahead for good, winning the ASG MVP award in the process.

Now that that's over, we can start thinking about the second half the season. Obviously, the Mariners need pitching at or before the deadline and I think as long as they can get that (and don't try to trade someone like Cruz or Seager [yes, I know he's not having a typical Seager year so far, but that doesn't mean you trade him]), they'll be in good position to get into the playoffs for the first time in 16 years. The offense is there. They just have to get the pitching sorted out.

I only watched the ASG from the 8th inning on as I had things going on. Watched Cano's HR and I have to say I wasn't nearly as jacked for it as I probably should have been. It was more like 'Of course Cano comes in and wins THIS game' :tsk: Should feel some pride that the M's batter is the one that won that game for the AL, but really hard to with what has been going on on the field.

I can't see any way they fix the problems they need to in order to make a real run at a WC spot. They have too many holes in the pitching staff and there just aren't going to be the types of options out there to plug them all given that so many other teams, many with more money and more trade options, are also after that very small pool.

Cano and Cruz have both been dinged up, Segura has been on the DL a couple of times, Paxton has already had his first major stint on the DL and it feels like only a matter of time before his next, Kuma might not ever come back, Felix has been injured now several times over the last full season and a half and no reason to believe he won't have some stupid injury again.

This team as it is comprised right now is just massively vulnerable to injuries and has thus far faced the worst you could have forecasted them to have.

In short, I have zero expectations over the second half when it comes to a WC slot. My only hope is they play enough stretches of decent games to keep me semi interested until the Seahawks and Huskies report to their fall camps.

Right now the focus has to be on the pitching.
This team can score runs, it will basically come down to the starters keeping the other team in check and the bullpen not giving any runs up....

If MLB GM's believe in Diaz as much as Dipoto does, then deal him for something usable.

I saw that. How fucking ridiculous. Even the comments section absolutely roasted ESPN for making the title "ex-Yankee Robinson Cano" Even if the Mariners were relevant, I could still see them doing that.

It's bad enough having to listen to Yankee fans, but when the media feeds the beast it gets down right ridiculous. I totally get that the Mariners are the Cleveland Browns of baseball, but from the way Yankee fans withdrew from Cano after leaving for the money it's hard to imagine they even want him to be referred to as "ex-Yankee". When A-Fraud left for Texas the last thing I would have wanted is to have him referred to as "ex-Mariner" four years after leaving. My thought would be, "Fuck that, he's a Ranger douche bag. Don't connect his turncoat ass to my team!" Except in this situation, Robbie is our turncoat douche bag so I would appreciate it if the national media referred to him as, "Seattle Mariners second baseman hit the game winner."

Aaron Judge and the Yankees are ESPN's new darling child since the Cubs aren't playing as well this year.

It was definitely frustrating to read about the whole "ex-Yankee" thing even though I didn't see it as it was happening. Would they have called Nelson Cruz an "ex-Ranger" or an "ex-Oriole" if he had been the one to hit that homer? I doubt it because the Rangers and the Orioles aren't the Yankees and the national sports media has to mention the Yankees every day when they're relevant in any way or they'll apparently die.

Anyway, nice to see the M's start off the second half with a couple of wins against a team they should beat. Hopefully, Moore can keep it rolling in his first career road start.
