wow!

who could've imagined such a turnaround in one season? more so, the season where the 49ers were predicted to be most affected by the CBA?

it'll be even harder to maintain this winning way, go Baalke!

The cool thing is Justin Smith made both 1st team All-Pro and 2nd team all pro. One as a defensive tackle and the other as an end.

That was pretty cool. He finished 3rd in DE voting behind Jared Allen and JPP.

Anthony Davis recieved a vote? Huh?

I was going to say it's really discouraging that Davis and Gore (as much as I love him, you can't argue he was one of the best 3 RBs in the league) each got a vote.

A list of everybody who received votes:

Rodgers tops Brees easily, Megatron and Allen lead All-Pro voting | ProFootballTalk

Frank Gore - 1 vote
Joe Staley - 11
Anthony Davis - 1
Mike Iupati - 1

David Akers - 32
Ted Ginn - 2
Andy Lee - 29

Justin Smith at DE - 9
Justin Smith at DT - 35
Patrick Willis - 32
NaVorro Bowman - 16
Carlos Rogers - 10
Dashon Goldson - 3

Joe Staley getting many votes, Anthony Davis getting a vote, and gore getting a vote are all surprising here.

gore deserved that vote, he's played well this year. davis and iupati shouldn't have gotten any.

I disagree with this.

If you were a voter, who would you rank lower then Gore between Ray Rice, Jones drews, and McCoy based on this season?

And those are just the three obvious ones. Arian Foster, Marshawn Lynch and Turner had arguably better seasons. Steven Jackson and Mathews are probably right at Gores level with Mcgahee and few others just behind him. Adrian Peterson dispite getting hurt, was having a much better season then Gore as well.

Gore just didnt have that good of a season. A pretty good one, not an all pro level though. He's 14th overall in rush yrds a game, 6th overall in rushing yards, tied for 12th in rushing tds and did pretty much nothing in the receiving game. Nothing there says all pro to me.

Gore deserved a vote? How did Gore deserve to have someone say he was the best RB in the NFL this year?

Justin Smith is the only player in NFL history to receive all-pro votes at two positions.

Congrats to Justin Smith! Dude's got about as high a motor as anyone I've seen in a long time. Great teammate, hard worker, stud on the DL. Nightmare for O-linemen & QBs.

Where does he rank amongst the 49ers' best FA acquisitions ever?

#2?

It's tough to put him above Deion still since most feel Deion's addition locked up the ring.

Maybe 5th behind Jonas Jennings, Craig Newsome and Gabe Wilkins.

But on a serious note, Tim McDonald has to be in the conversation, as does Ken Norton.

If Smith leads us to a ring he becomes the #1. The ring in 94 is the only reason to consider the 3 serious names above as better.

And really, I was just trying to come up with a case for him not to be the best to facilitate discussion.

Hmmm... good question.

Tim McDonald
Gary Plummer
Ken Norton Jr
Kevin Gogan

What was that probwol RG's name who used to play for the VaGinats?

Good question. I can't think of a better one. Ever. And I thought they paid too much for him. <-------- WRONG!
