Yep. Doing it at Forbidden Door helps no one. If Ospreay wins, well you just completely kneecapped Swerve, who you built up hot to be a champion and did absolutely nothing with for his reign. But if Swerve wins, well then you just gave away a premiere money making match up for a quick 3 week build. Even if you run it back in a month or two, it's never the same as being able to build up anticipation for the first time.

I think what it speaks more to is they literally had no plan after "Swerve wins the title". They failed to build up any challengers. They just up announced Christian as his first challenger with no build up and later backfilled some story justification but it never felt like an actual credible challenger story. And then they just have Ospreay win the gauntlet to be his next opponent. They're just grabbing opponents for the match to be good and not really planning out any real stories long term

Because Tony Khan has come out and said he books for the fans, not for the company long term.

The last couple of singles matches he had in AEW was the best he's looked in years. But I have no desire to see the Hardys in 2024, especially Matt who is completely broken down and can't move
