Agreed. Wade Davis needed to be out there to keep the game within reach. You need your best guy there. But baseball managers rarely vary from the script: closers can only work the 9th inning(and maybe the 8th inning in the playoffs).
I read a good article about that the other day. They were talking about Matt Williams and his refusal to stray from conventional wisdom with his bullpen and how that cost him the NLDS last year and the team this year (among other things).
