Man this would suck. When will they make the decision on this? Could he be suspended this year?
They might try but he could appeal and get that extension easily. Dictator Goodell won't have the power to suspend him unless more evidence surfaces.....this happend a while ago...not just yesterday.

Anything that comes from this is going to take time. I'd be surprised if he suffered any ill effects this season.

Not sure if it works in his favor or against him, but the statute of limitations on the misdemeanor charges has run. They'll have to file felony charges if any. That could cause them to be less likely to file, or it could lead to harsher penalties.

Its a lawsuit, thus a civil case they don't have to bring criminal charges or bear the same burden of proof as in a criminal case.

Read the headline of the article, pretty sure that's what Crimson is referring to

I know. Articles have said the SCDA is considering criminal charges, however.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. I know you and most others would look at the link I provided to see that they might do that very thing. Others who post here just want it posted out for them....SMH.

This is the type case that just leaves you scratching head. How is his owning of illegal guns in California a bigger deal than the stabbing and the assault charges they should be seeking on those that caused this whole mess? The gun ownership is so minor. That should be nothing more than a "Hey make sure those are registered and legal or charges could be pressed on you." Charge one of your key witnesses in a bigger crime.... Court System Logic at it's finest.

:gaah: WTF :gaah:

*just saying, but if this shiet becomes a distraction should the 49ers release Smith?

I personally think this is all a bunch of doney shiet, and I hope this blows away quickly.

There aren't any criminal charges. The only thing that could happen is Aldon might have to write some people a check. Nothing to worry about.

There's so much stuff being said. I read a article on bleacher report, said they could charge Aldon because of the guns. But to me the whole thing is weird, it happened so long ago, it's gonna be interesting to see what happens.

He's likely going to have to scratch a couple of checks to settle things to be done and over with it.

The whole thing is suspicious because of the timing. This happened over a year ago and suddenly now all of this coming out? I mean considering Smith was stabbed at the party and these guys were shot you would think some investigative police work would've been done to find out what happened and nobody at the time said Smith and Walker were firing off guns which caused a crossfire were these guys claim they got shot?

I will say Smith has kept his nose clean since the incident since I'm sure getting stabbed puts things in perspective for you so there really is no need to do anything drastic like release him or anything.
