When I first heard about his injury, I was pissed off.
I saw an interview with Francona the other day, and he gave me a little different perspective on the situation.
Bauer's 25 years old. He wasn't out drinking, starting fights, getting DUI's or whatever. He was playing with a toy. You'd never think that would slice his finger open, but it did. It was a freak accident. It sucks for sure, but I'm not going to begrudge the kid for it. I'm betting that he's beating himself up for blowing his chance to pitch in the postseason and letting his team down.
Don't get me wrong, I like the kid. and if this was in the middle of the summer, regular season 3 game series, no big deal, but this is slightly a different deal.
This was a learning experience for him. I'm pretty sure he's taken a ton of heat for this.
but these kids have to understand, this is a job at the end of the day. there are repercussions sometimes with what you do in your personal time. I see and understand all of your points, but they need to grow up.
Its just like when worthlessburger fell off a motorcycle early in his career in Pittsburgh.
When you are paying some kid millions of $$$$, their boss reserves the right to put stipulations on extreme/dangerous activities that could prevent them from performing. and no I don't think that a drone qualifies, but, I'd bet he has an expensive Big boy version that is pretty powerful and not a $50 POS walmart one, one that is capable of cutting the hell out of your hand.
