O’s sign Charlie Morton to a one year deal.

an innings eater with a good curveball who raises the floor of the rotation.

I'd rather sign Bregman than trade for Arenado honestly, especially if it involves moving Casas. They'd still have to move Yoshida. I'm also just very bearish on Arenado as a hitter going forward

If the Sox don't care about payroll, they'll take Bregman - especially if he can slide into 2B. I'd rather have Arenado for three years, than Bregman for six... Doesn't this already feel like another Boras fuck-up (wait until Spring Training and hope someone get's desperate, then end up with a shit deal - like Snell & Montgomery)...

I also hate this "trade Casas" talk. If it comes down to moving Devers from third for better defense - just get rid of Yoshida and platoon Devers and Casas at 1B/DH....

Seriously, just include Masa in any trade, and pay the rest of his salary.

I hate it, especially if it's for getting Alonso? He's a fine player, but I don't see why a healthy Casas couldn't match his 123 OPS+ he's had the last two seasons. Yeah he won't match Alonso's power numbers, but likely with superior OBPs.

I don’t get the feeling that they are signing Bregman, or Alonso under any circumstances. I think that’s all BS to even connect them to big salary guys like that. They have Grissom/Hamilton and Campbell to compete at 2B. Then they have Story/Rafaela/Mayer to compete at SS. Why add Bregman and $25m/year to that mix? Just to play out of position? That’s ridiculous. The Sox don’t seem to want to spend anymore. I think they’ll focus on extending Crochet and maybe Duran instead.

Also, it seems to me that the Yankees are the only team in the AL that is even trying! Who else is even improving this Winter?

I agree with Grissom, Hamilton, Campbell at 2B. I hope the young kids all progress this season.

In terms of extensions, I think Crochet, Houck, & Casas take priority. Duran is already 28 with three years of Arb left. He'll be 32 when he becomes a FA. I think they'll wait a couple more seasons... Houck only has two years of arb left. If he has another good year, they might try to extend him for a couple more post arbitration years - but he's already 29, so who knows... Casas is still 25. They tried last year, and they'll probably try again....And, they say they're already working on Crochet.

And, talking about money - rumors are saying they now want to save up for Vladimir Guerrero next year. I call BS and would actually rather have Casas....

I forgot about Houck. He’s definitely a strong candidate to extend. I’d like to try and tack on a couple years with Duran. He’s a bit of a late bloomer and he is really coming into his own. Another year like he had in ‘24 and they won’t be able to afford him(under their new lowball regime).

As for Casas, I just don’t get it. I feel like I’m the only Sox fan who finds him to be incredibly expendable. He’s a big slow oaf who can’t move or play defense. He strikes out way too much, too. He’s got a good eye and draws walks, but his total package stinks. Plus he’s establishing himself as injury-prone. I’d love to move him in the right deal when Devers is ready to go to 1B. I don’t see the need to extend him. I don’t think he’ll age well. They certainly don’t need to be in any hurry to get a deal done with him. They already have him for another few years.
