The second AB last night with the bases loaded, looked like they were nibbling. If he swings great, if he doesn't we walk him.

Didn't someone intentionally walk Bonds with the bases loaded at one point?

I guess Judge isn't quite to that level yet.

probably helps that the Yanks lineup after Volpe/Judge/Soto isn't that scary. Stanton is always a threat to crush a home run, but he's still just a DH with a sub-.300 OBP and 117 OPS+. Verdugo seems like a perennial 100-110 OPS+ guy. At least Torres seems to be slowly getting his act together at the plate (.243/.320/.432 since May 1st; not great, but far better than the .550 OPS prior to that). Rizzo looks toast. that being said, as unbalanced as it might be, they're 1st in the AL in runs, home runs, OBP and OPS.

With the bases loaded, an intentional base on balls forces in a run. This might be advisable if a team with a lead of two to four runs elects to concede one run of its lead so as not to have to pitch to a batter who might hit a home run to tie the game or take the lead.

The following table shows each batter who has gotten this treatment in the history of Major League Baseball. Cases before 1955 are researched from newspaper reports, which may be subjective

Sox may have to look into adding Matthew Lugo to the 40 man before the offseason... maybe sooner. He's hit .319/.412/.694 between AA and AAA (where he was just promoted a few days ago and is 4/11 with 2 doubles, 2 HR in 3 games). He already has more walks than he did last year in 37 fewer games, so seeing him tighten up the BB/K ratio is very encouraging. He's also moved to the OF, where the Sox could use another guy especially if Abreu/O'Neill were to miss extended time
