Martian's AA stats aren't particularly great at first glance, but he hit .333/.401/.494 from July 1st to August 20th prior to his AAA promotion.
It's an aggressive callup, but I don't think it's unreasonable. AAA is more of a test for pitchers than hitters as a lot of players in AAA are journeymen/borderline major leaguers and some prospects that are just waiting for a position to open at the major league level. The jump from High A to AA is considered a bigger jump for hitting prospects. It's not that uncommon to see top prospects only get a small taste of AAA before getting promoted or just skipping it altogether.He's been scorching the last month and change, but I'm still really surprised they're calling him up.
