Hopefully Cole gets the ridiculous strike zone that Snell has gotten......Strike 3 on Stanton was criminal......

Also Game 2 is the safest game to start him. Had to assume Cole gets the W tonight and there's zero pressure on him then you have Tanaka and probably Happ in games 3/4.

Throwing a rookie who has been meh at best allows uncle Mo to shift to the other side quickly. And it sounds like Happ/Montgomery are on call for the game.

Throwing a more playoff experienced Tanaka allows you to go for the early killshot.

I think it's quite brilliant, actually, and about time Boone started thinking like Cash.

Rays start their lefty line-up, Garcia gives them 2 or 3, then Yanks bring in Montgomery and force the Rays to pinch hit up and down their line-up.

If it works, then you have extra-rest Tanaka (.628 OPS against on 6+ days of rest) for the true killshot. If it doesn't, then you still have Tanaka for the crucial 1-1 swing game.

Yeah that could be a solid move. My only thing is I just think going with the vets sets you up better. That Rays lineup is gonna be tough to plan for anyways.

And they have certain guys who are going to play regardless(Diaz, Adames, Arozarena, Lowe). Those 4 would be licking their chops for a lefty.

Maybe thats the reason not to start multiple lefties. But its also scary that if a young kid breaks early, that you are replacing him with a lefty. But the Rays didnt do much pinch hitting yesterday. Just Bousseau and Meadows(who is still so banged up he didnt even start vs a righty).

Either way, wish the Twins won a round occaisionally so I could debate these types of moves for them

I like it as well, kid shows poise for such a young age.....Deivi vs Goliath tonight.....needs to land the first stone on Glasnow

No doubt. He's extremely tough-and unlike Snell, has a history of pitching well against NY.

I also expect Meadows will be starting. He's been hurt and struggling, but that guy scares me more than anyone else in the TB line-up.

I still can't believe they got them both for Chris Archer. What an epic swindle.

I haven't checked, but I would assume the Pirates GM got a one way ticket to Palookaville......What a disaster and I believe we all mentioned we wanted no part of Archer back then.....

Yup. They brought in the old Red Sox GM Cherington this year.

But they gave Huntington 12 years before they finally pulled the plug. That Archer trade had to be the last straw.
