Isn't Torres the answer at short?

What's his name playing 2nd

I know he filled in for didi, don’t think they have the confidence in him being everyday SS, I could be wrong . Also, it may affect his offense playing short everyday. Who knows. I know he likes tight situations! We shall see.

Why would you think it affect him at the plate? Slight extra he has to give while at short?

SS, you struggle at plate you can take it out to the field. As a 2b you can fumble ball do 2 back flips and still get a runner out!

I don't hate it. Perez has been useful albeit mediocre, but he did flash a really good cutter last year. Still doesn't miss many bats, but I think he'll be fine as a backend starter and more or less replaces Porcello. But with 4 lefties, it looks like a move is imminent. There's been a fair amount of buzz with Price.

Sox also signed Jose Peraza. For a speedy infielder with minimal power, his BABIP seems rather low (.301).

When you realize you just guaranteed $324M

with an interesting clause:suds:

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, if Gerrit Cole exercises the opt-out in his new deal, the Yankees can void the decision with a one-year extension.
Cole has the option to opt out of his nine-year, $324 million agreement after the 2024 season. If the Yankees so choose, they can void that by adding one year to the deal, which would make it a 10-year, $360 million contract. It's an interesting addition to what already was the largest contract of any starting pitcher in baseball history, and either way, Cole is almost assuredly going to finish the better part of his career in the Bronx.

Interesting, but chances are slim to none they'd ever have to consider it.

Cole will be 34 in 2024 with a guaranteed 4 years/$144M coming to him. Hard to see him thinking he could do better at that age.

If he does, that means the first 5 years of the deal went spectacularly well, which I can live with.
