I kinda want Paxton to start game 3 because I'm not sure I trust Tanaka in a big spot on the road with the way he's been pitching this season but going to guess the rotation looks like the following:

G1-Paxton
G2- Sevy
G3- Tanaka
G4- Happ/Paxton/Opener
G5- Paxton/Tanaka

I trust Tanaka in a big spot more than any of the others, which is why I'd give him the ball in game 1.

Agree, but he can go from Cy Young to sayonara rather quickly......

With the way Paxton has been, I prefer to give Tanaka game 2 or game 3. Just prefer to have Sevy pitching at home instead of in Minny in a game 3.

How can you not start Paxton in game 1 with a 0.36 ERA in September in 24+ innings?

But he hasn't in the post-season.

25 innings 4 ER

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

If they really trust Sevy in a big spot on the road then you can set Tanaka up for game 2 and 5.

I don't know how you ignore what Paxton has done in his last 6 starts and not hand him the ball in game 1.

Paxton has been great of late, but he's never pitched in the post-season before. And his first innings still make me very nervous.

I'm just thinking I'd be more comfortable going with the known quantity-and as I said earlier in the thread, I really like the idea of Tanaka on extra rest for a potential game 5.

But here's the thing, if you're concerned about Paxton so much then isn't it better for him to start game 1. You really want him out there making his first start if the yanks lose game 1 and must win game 2? I prefer Tanaka or even Sevy in that situation.

I want Tanaka on a minimum of 6 days for a game 5. Only way we get there is to start him in game 1.

That said, I'm sure you're right, and it's gonna be Paxton. Just not how I would do it.

Best Yankee team in a really long time too! :)

But I hear you-at some point, the tables will have turn between these two clubs. Hopefully not this year.

Yup. Making me nervous because all I hear in NYC on sports talk radio is how the Yanks always dominate the Twins. Getting suck of this talk. Finally yesterday on the Kay show, they pointed out that this is a really good team who are just 3 games behind the Yankees in terms of record.

Looking at runs per game, scored and allowed, this should be an incredibly even series. Teams are almost mirror-images.

HFA could be the difference, hopefully. The stadium needs to be rabid next Friday & Saturday.

Word.

Although it's been much better the last two post-seasons, the new place just isn't the same as the old when it comes to HFA.

I really miss the upper deck hanging over the OF.

Some good news:

"Gary Sanchez, Edwin Encarnacion each will return today, Aaron Boone told WFAN yesterday. Sanchez will catch "four or five" innings, Boone said."

My guess at the roster

C-Sanchez, Romine

IF-Voit, LeMeheiu, Torres, Gregorius, Encarnacion, Urshela, Wade

OF-Judge, Stanton, Gardner, Maybin

SP-Tanaka, Paxton, Severino, Happ

RP-Chapman, Ottavino, Britton, Green, Kahnle, Sabathia,

Rounding out the 25 will be 2 of Tarpley, Cessa, Cortes, Loiasaga. Which 2 I have no idea. I think Tarpley has the inside track on one of the spots.

I also remember them signing Terrance Gore over the summer, and it was assumed he'd be the designated runner in the post-season, but as far as I can tell he was never added to the 40 man.

I think there's going to be some big changes for the Red Sox this winter. I think Martinez is gone. hope they keep Betts though.
