Now the rotation.

Tanaka
Severino
Gray
Sabathia
Montgomery

Even though Anaheim is gonna try it this year, a 6 man rotation is going to be hard on everyone in the rotation who isn't Japanese.

Tanaka is so much better on 5 days and more of rest though..at least early on with the inevitable rainouts I hope they try to give him that extra day here and there. Could be huge for him.

can't argue this... rainouts? you mean snowouts!

have no choice but to live with this, "bulb head" to lead off, shakehead...

help me out here, torres is that the rook or the utility kid?

Torres is the prospect (#6 according to Baseball America). They may keep him down in AAA for the month of April so they can control him for an extra year before FA. If so, substitute Tyler Wade at 2nd and batting 9th for April.

im thinkin, if i remember correctly, if a player stays up for a certain amount of days, they have to pay up.... i'm out of game awhile , but i believe they will go with utility player, while the youngins go back to AAA

Interesting news there for Judge. The HR derby is a fun event but I can get wanting to save his energy for the actual games.

Or they'll play Torreyes at 2nd and have Wade back up.

Right-that's definitely what Girardi would do, go with the vet. Wade is having himself a really nice spring though, so we'll see if that gets him the edge in Boone's eyes.

Torreyes was having a nice Spring as well. I think he was 5-14 going into the game yesterday. Then again, if you bring up a kid like Wade you don't want him buried on the bench and we know Torreyes can remain productive with sporadic at bats. Still, I'd go with Torreyes as he hit 290 last year. Andujar is trying to muscle his way into the picture as well.

Yeah, Torreyes had a nice year, and played well wherever he was plugged in. Andujar is also having a hell of a spring, but he's got the same "clock" considerations as Torres. They can keep an extra year of control by keeping him down until April 27th is what I think I read.

And complicating things further is the Drury trade. He can play 2B or 3B, but the consensus seems to be 3B is his best position.

I read Drury hasn't played 2nd all that much so I think you are correct on the 3rd base thing. These are nice issues to have.

Actually seems like he's played a lot more 2B, and played it well-better than 3rd. From Fangraphs:

A 13th-round pick by the Braves in 2010, Drury came to the Diamondbacks in the Justin Upton trade of January 2013. After getting a cup of coffee with Arizona as a 22-year-old in 2015, he’s seen regular duty in each of the past two seasons, recording 979 plate appearances and seeing significant time at four positions: second base (117 starts), left field (52 starts), right field (27 starts), and third base (26 starts). He was dreadful at the outfield corners, but solid at second base (-2 UZR, +4 DRS) and shaky in a small sample size at third (-4 DRS and -4 UZR in just 311 innings), though both he and the Yankees apparently believe that’s his stronger position.

Really good write up on the situation and all the potential players:

Only 26 starts at 3rd base? Wow was I off.

LOL The way he and the Yankees talk about his comfort level there I thought the same.

Then I looked at his defensive numbers there compared to 2B and I wonder what they're smoking.

Cash seems to really like the guy and tried to get him ion the past so hopefully he'll be another Didi. I was just listening to the radio and apparently the ratings for Yankee spring training games are through the roof. Can't wait to see what the regular season numbers look like

I read the other day that they've already sold 700,000 more regular season tickets than at this time last year.
People are really pumped for this season. They better live up to it! :)

Given the addition of Stanton I can see the excitement for the fans of the Yankees, should be a fun season.
