Congrats to the new Hall of Famers including 3 guys who honed their craft in the AL East. Mo is the best closer ever, no issue with his getting in with 100% of the vote.

it's not like Gardner's useless. even with the mediocre batting stats, he was still worth 2.5 WAR because of his baserunning and defense.

I appreciate what Gardner can bring to the table, but it's time for Carrot Top to finally step up and show his true potential....

Far from useless, but he's got a 4th outfielder's bat these days. His 2nd half 2018 was so bad, I was surprised they re-signed him.

AL East. Power house division in the MLB. I’m hearing a team in our division is close to adding a big time gold glove infielder who plays SS/3B. I wonder who! Lol

Former Mets general manager Jim Duquette is hearing that the Yankees informally offered Manny Machado a seven or eight-year contract for $220 million.

Duquette went on to say that "a lot of teams are in that range also" and "another club has gone further than that." His comments appear to up the ante on Friday's report from Bob Nightengale of USA Today, who stated that the White Sox are holding firm on their seven-year $175 million offer and that they are considered the favorite to sign him. The Padres and Phillies are also aggressively pursuing Machado. He was reportedly hoping for a ten-year, $300 million windfall as he entered free agency but there have been no public indications that any team has made an offer anywhere near that figure.

Can someone change the title for this thread? Would like the 2018 part removed

I still think Machado ends up a Yankee. That type of move will signify the return of the "Evil Empire".

Not so sure. I think the "Evil Empire" died with George Steinbrenner. His son was bitching about having a $220M payroll the other day.

Anyone who didn't think the Yankees would be in on the Machado sweepstakes is delusional. Flat out delusional!

As far as the Red Sox go... You can KISS Kimbrel GOODBYE! Talking about it on the ride home tonight... Even IF the Red Sox were to offer him a 1 year/$17 million deal they would have to pay $28 million do to being over the salary cap... He ain't being resigned in Boston
