"Deep to left! Yastrzemski will not get it...it's a home run! A three-run home run for Bucky Dent and the Yankees now lead...Bucky Dent has just hit his fourth home run of the year and look at that Yankees bench out to greet him!"

I was in 6th grade, we were listening to the first few innings on transistor radios at school and then on the bus. Got home in time to see Reggie go deep to stretch the lead to what we thought was comfortable. Turned out not so much.

Most unappreciated/forgotten play was Piniella pretending he had a bead on Rices's ball to right even though he couldn't see it at all. Kept Remy from advancing to third, where he would've tied the game on Yaz' long fly ball.

Unbelievable game to cap off an unbelievable season.

The one guy I thought there was no chance they would start.

I figured Happ made the most sense, but Severino seemed like a decent 2nd choice. Seems like they are overthinking this a bit since Happ has been unbeatable since he arrived. Let’s see if the Severino/Sanchez tandem is just as confused as they were in OAK a month ago.

Why? Severino has a 5.23 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP against the As. That's good, right?

Really don’t get why they didn’t go Tanaka.

Or Happ.

I'm disgusted by that decision.

Happ and Tanaka must feel like crap. Being clearly the top 2 starters at the Yankees for the past 3 months means nothing to the front office.

Fucking joke.

The ONLY good thing about this move is IF the yankees win (which seems highly unlikely) at this stage, at least they would have Tanaka/Happ pitching 3 of the 5 possible games in the ALDS. Outside of that I got nothing

No one will admit it, but this is a look ahead to Boston decision

They know Happ a couple times vs Boston could be their only shot

They will regret it

They're looking ahead. They want Happ twice against Boston, Tanaka in game 2 and Sevy back home in game 3. If it works god bless em but they're opening themselves to some amazing 2nd guessing

Severino was rocked in the wild card game LAST year and the Yanks still won. If he’s bad, he’ll get pulled early and you’ll see weird shit like Robertson in the 2nd inning. Seems like you are overreacting here.

Yup, if they win, he looks like a genius.

If he loses though....oof

This As team is so much more dangerous than that Twins team

Not only are you not gonna just shut them down after a good first inning, like last year, the As can mix and match their pen far better than the Twins, and better than the Yankees
