I was holding onto hope that NY would have to travel to Oakland, but I think last night set the game in NY.

I'd say good luck, but that would be a lie.

Not trying to count any chickens, but how insane would a NY-BOS ALDS be?

Even though I'll have to endure countless "The last time these two teams met in the post-season...." lead-ups, I'm OK with it.

Gibbons out in Toronto. Whoever's next there is going to have some serious talent to work with.

Hope Gleyber is ok, out again today

Because we haven't had enough injuries. Unreal. At least the unexpected 2 wins in Tampa so far have taken a bit of the pressure off and he can feel OK sitting guys down these last few.

I know we've bitched plenty this season (especially the last few months), but then I look at the standings and this team has won 97 games, and might end up with 100. Just not getting that juggernaut feel I usually would with a team cranking out that many wins. I see all the flaws, even when I'm trying not to look. LOL

I know Im as pessimistic as they come, but I cant imagine getting past the Sox, if we do get past the A's, which is scary enough

On the Gleyber front, Im starting to get a wee bit concerned that its the Hip that keeps acting up, its such a bad injury, has really affected careers

But if they were able to...somehow...well, that would be absolutely f*cking glorious, and I won't lie-would feel like some kind of Karmic retribution for the October horrors of 14 years ago.

As far as Gleyber goes, not sure, but yeah the hip keeps popping up. I've noticed also that he's extremely streaky. He's either hot as a pistol or cold as ice. No in between with this kid.

Lmao at the fans who still want Tanaka.

The answer is very clear on who should start the WC game and his name is JA Happ

Sale was not fantastic last night against a crap team, he is not giving me a warm fuzzy feeling.

I can only hope he is looking at these outings as kind of like spring training and is working on pitches he hasn't got the feel back for yet.

It's gotta be Happ

Steve Phillips said it best

"You don't throw a Boom or bust in a one game do or die, Tanaka and Severino are both guys capable of 7 shutout or getting knocked out in the 3rd. Happ is a guy you can chalk up almost every time for 6 innings of one or 2 run ball and if the Yankee lineup or pen can't win that game it's on them"

Makes sense....even from someone with ties to the Mets.....

Exactly. I'm ok with throwing Tanaka out there in game 1 of the ALDS where it is not a do or die situation. Losing game 1 on the road is not the end of the world.

I all for Tanaka until his last 2 starts. He allowed 8 runs in 8 IP in his last 2 starts.

Can't risk it.

I can't even kill Boone if he goes with Happ and he pitches poorly because ultimately going with Happ is the right decision

And Tanaka better on the road. His propensity to give up HRs, against that lineup in the Bronx, be ugly

Huh. I remember him scattering 3 hits over 7 innings in a do or die against the Indians last year. I also remember him giving up 2 runs over 13 IP against the eventual World Champs in the next series.

Based on his resume and make-up, he's still my guy with the season on the line, and he's lined up with what for him is the perfect amount of rest. We'll see what the braintrust decides.
