Wonder if Gardner's gonna make it? Probably over Bird, but I think the writing is on the wall that these are his last handful of games in pinstripes.

He'll look good in Royal Blue.

Gardner will definitely be on the wild card game roster. They'll only carry 8 pitchers so they'll have plenty of bench players and Gardy can always pinch run if needed. If they get past the wild card game I'm not sure if they go with him. They have first base covered without Bird so maybe Gardy's speed gets him on the roster

I've seen this before when a team has everything sewn up. The adrenaline isn't really pumping because nothing is on the line. in 2000 the Yanks lost something like 20 of their last 25 and then lost 1 or 2 games in the playoffs. Provided Sale is healthy the Sox and Stros are the 2 best teams in the league imo
