They have too many infielders all of a sudden. But Bregman is one of the best 3B in the league. He really has to play there most of the time. Meanwhile, it sounds like Campbell is very solid defensively at 2B and they love his bat, too. I think they want him to win the 2B job.

Story will need plenty of time off, so Campbell and Bregman(and Rafaela) can fill in there…until Meyer is ready for the role on a more consistent basis. And that doesn’t even get into Hamilton and Grissom who probably can start for a lot of teams. Being able to use Devers at DH at least 3-4x/week would help a lot.
I'd rather have too many middle infielders than too many 1b/DH/corner OF... at least middle infielders are usually capable of playing most other positions

That’s definitely true. And they don’t seem to have many corner IF’s beyond Devers & Casas(and Bregman).

Outfield could also become crowded quickly. Duran will play every day. But then you have Abreu, Rafaela, Anthony(who looks to be ready very early in the year if not Opening Day) and Campbell if he gets squeezed out of the infield(not to mention Yoshida who they don’t want to use at DH much anymore). They will probably have a different lineup every night with all these permutations.

They need to launch Yoshida into the sun

If Anthony/Campbell force their way in I'd consider moving Abreu, as much as I like him. He could be a nice trade chip

He seems to be a better version of Verdugo.....with the platoon split

He’s a decent contact hitter. He just doesn’t hit enough to be a DH. But, apparently, he can’t play OF until his shoulder is right and he has almost no value right now, as a result. Horrible signing.

Spoiler: he could never play the field

Damn Toronto might be cooked. Losing Vlad and Bo possibly in the same winter?

Losing bo will not be a big deal if he doesn’t get much better than last year

He was not good

I'm a little wary of him. There's two monster years, one good but not great year, and three average-ish seasons. He did underperform his Statcast metrics in some of those seasons, but he's still been all over the place. It wouldn't shock me if 2024 was a sign he's put it all together though
