former SS here, bautista hard slide, but nothing wrong with it, odor should be suspended 10 games no pay!

I was an OF/1B, so I do not have any personally knowledge of MI defensively. My feelings on it:

Bat flips are fine, but if you do it know that the other team may throw one in your ribs later.
With the replay in baseball and them doing away with the area rule, they need to do something about the take out slide at 2nd. Baseball did that this year and under these rules Bautista was called for it for the third time this year.

The punch: there is no place for it in baseball, but it was enjoyable to see.

Ejections and suspensions:

Bautista needs to get a game or two and Odor needs to get around 5 games. No pay for any suspension I thought was a given. Pillar, Donaldson, and Bush should all get 1 game.

If Ferrell didn't get in any trouble for coming back on the field against the Yankees after he was ejected, how can you suspend Gibbons for doing the same thing.

It was a high and late slide with intent to injure. According to the rules it was also a dirty slide and a double play was awarded. The rules say you're wrong.

What started it? I just turned on MLB Network and saw the punch

The Texas pitcher threw at Bautista, then a couple batters later when Texas was attempting a double play, Bautista slid hard, messing up the throw and then Odor clocked him and went from there.

According to the rules it was an illegal slide. He intentionally slide late and high in an attempt to contact Odor's legs, and slid way past the bag. That's why the Rangers were awarded a double play. Period. The rules have changed. Keep up.

The rules have changed and infielders are changing the way they field the ball because of it. Bautista knew that and was hunting Odor's knees. He knows that's an illegal slide. He's already been called for it once this season. There was intent for sure.

In our day they also had the In the Area rule. That has been taken out of the game, so they had to do something to protect the MI. Because the MI now has to stay on the bag like a 1B.

Yes rules have changed and Bautista slid late, still no reason to try to break a guys jaw. Also this isn't the first Odor rodeo is it?

He punched Bautista because Bautista was loadin up to throw a haymaker with his right hand. You think he was loading up that right hand to tickle Odor? Odor was just quicker.

Bautista never came close to making a fist, you seem to be adding to the story.

Wrong. Several posters have commented on it. If you don't see it you need to get your eyes checked.

Do yourself a favor, Watch where Baustisas hands are when Odor is already delivering the blow. Baustista deserves to get his, but Odor is far more in the wrong here. Next time Odor slides with the sole purpose to break up a double play I hope you have the capability to recall this play.
He'll sit 10 games.

I did watch. I know what I saw. We'll find out how many games Odor misses together, and nothing either of us argues will change that number.

You're blinded by those Ranger glasses. Take the teams out of it and watch again. Odor cocked his fist immediately after he shoved Baustista.

I'm not the only one who saw it that way, including other major league players.

Bautista is starting to make a fist, when Odor popped him. He had not completed the fist at the time of contact. If you watch his right hand as Baustisa starts backpedaling, you can see him complete the fist.

If you watch Odor he's got a fist ready as soon as the shove is over. The closest I see Baustista bringing his right towards Odor is as Odor's sucker punch is landing. I'm no fan of Baustista but Romeo's pure homerish is comical.
