So the Yankees go to Boston for 4, O's go home for 4 with Tampa, and Jays go to LAA for 4.

Pretty sure we'll be done by Sunday

Josh Donaldson misses third straight game, getting an MRI on his hip.

*breathes heavily*
dont worry u can get panda next year:suds:

Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports the Blue Jays are on the verge of naming former Red Sox GM Ben Cherington as vice president of baseball operations.

Cherington was pushed out of Boston last year with the arrival of new president Dave Dombrowski, but he put together an extremely impressive core of young players during his time with the Red Sox and he looks like a savvy hire for the Jays, who have a ton of big decisions to make this offseason. Cherington will work under Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro, and alongside Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins. It's a big-name front office for those who pay close attention to the inner workings of the game.

Please no panda.

I like the hire. Him and Atkins played big roles in the drafting and development of guys currently carrying two AL division leaders. Given that the Jays are currently pulling grenade pins and swallowing the grenades and the likelihood of lots of turnover this off-season via free agency (which should mean at least a couple extra draft picks) it's nice to have two guys who, like Anthopoulos before, are good with the youngsters.

Now if only the Rays can do the same to the O's :heh:
I wouldn't hlget my hopes up, O's have owned the Rays all year, currently 11-4. For comparison, Sox and Yanks are 9-7 vs Rays, and Jays are 8-10 vs Rays.

He was VP and AGM to Theo at that time and given his background in scouting (VP player personnel before that) I'm sure he played a part in drafting Mookie and JBJ.

Anyway, I think it's a decent signing and he's reporting to Atkins anyway. Jays say his portfolio will be youngsters so hoping for the best.

This is essentially rock bottom for them. They've just been totally solved in every way you can be - starters, defensively, the bats, literally nothing is working.

Really shitty way to play out September after showing so much promise. Maybe a trip out west will wake them up but I don't have my hopes up.

The Jays continute to implode, looks like Donaldson could be out a while too. Yeah they got the Angels the weekend but they did lose 2 out of 3 to the Rays this week so it doesn't matter who they're playing.

Yankees drop a hard one to the Dodgers

12-5
14-3

Losing three of the last four makes those numbers look hard to reach.

Its Girardi fault that the Yankees couldn't get a run home with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out? Ok cool. I mean its not like they were facing one of the best pitchers in the league or anything.

Yeah needed to win this one. I'm really thinking Boston wins the division as the 2 WC spots go to Detroit and Seattle

No coach will ever blame the players when/if they lose their job. It is called being a professional. Blaming Joe for 2 guys not being able to get a hit off Kershaw with 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd is just dumb....But you are dumb so no surprise
