Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports the Blue Jays are on the verge of naming former Red Sox GM Ben Cherington as vice president of baseball operations.
Cherington was pushed out of Boston last year with the arrival of new president Dave Dombrowski, but he put together an extremely impressive core of young players during his time with the Red Sox and he looks like a savvy hire for the Jays, who have a ton of big decisions to make this offseason. Cherington will work under Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro, and alongside Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins. It's a big-name front office for those who pay close attention to the inner workings of the game.
Wow, Jays got bitch slapped by the Rays.
I wouldn't hlget my hopes up, O's have owned the Rays all year, currently 11-4. For comparison, Sox and Yanks are 9-7 vs Rays, and Jays are 8-10 vs Rays. Now if only the Rays can do the same to the O's
Please no panda.
I like the hire. Him and Atkins played big roles in the drafting and development of guys currently carrying two AL division leaders. Given that the Jays are currently pulling grenade pins and swallowing the grenades and the likelihood of lots of turnover this off-season via free agency (which should mean at least a couple extra draft picks) it's nice to have two guys who, like Anthopoulos before, are good with the youngsters.
He was VP and AGM to Theo at that time and given his background in scouting (VP player personnel before that) I'm sure he played a part in drafting Mookie and JBJ.Not sure who u think cherington drafted but XB-mookie and JBJ are all theo Benitendi looks good so far but all the others need to be proven 1st
This is essentially rock bottom for them. They've just been totally solved in every way you can be - starters, defensively, the bats, literally nothing is working.Wow, Jays got bitch slapped by the Rays.
i fookin can't stand to watch a fookin boring noballlzretarrdee team lose a winnable game at home, 2nd & 3rd less then 2 outs, how many freekin times's no run x plate, struggling to score runs , playoffs on line line fire this braneded koach NOW
Yankees drop a hard one to the Dodgers
12-5
14-3
Losing three of the last four makes those numbers look hard to reach.
Its Girardi fault that the Yankees couldn't get a run home with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out? Ok cool. I mean its not like they were facing one of the best pitchers in the league or anything.
yes it is, and he would be the first to tell you that! and he will when he is canned! this is his team, and if the team fails he is responsible... sports 101
