Severino got the job done. Insane how much better he is out of the pen

Yeah that was the worst case scenario for Mitchell in the 6th. But Severino looked like the pitcher we kept hearing about, not the one we saw earlier this year.

Yep. Thinking Joe may try to have him go 3 then have Clippard close the game since Warren and Betances are unavailable.

Tying run at the plate for the Jays with 1 out in the 7th.

I posted this somewhere else earlier today but I heard on the Michael Kay show today that the Yanks had 11 chances this season to complete a 3 or 4 game sweep. Only converted the sweep twice. Change that number to 5 or 6 games and they're in the WC lead.

Interesting challenge my Joe. More tense moments in the stadium if you're a Yankees fan

Can't believe they overturned that. Did not think they had enough evidence but I'll take it

They have not completed a 3 game sweep yet this year. Both of the sweeps they completed were 4 games.

Girardi said his plan tonight was for Mitchell to go 5 and Severino to go the last 4 trying to save the bullpen.

I'm going to look up their schedule just to see the quality of the teams they were playing when they had a chance to complete a sweep

Was his arch on the bag? That was the whole thing with that review, and it did not look like there was enough evidence to say it was not.

I'm going to look up their schedule just to see the quality of the teams they were playing when they had a chance to complete a sweep

Here is the breakdown of the teams they had a chance to complete a 3 or 4 game sweep on and failed this season:

Tampa Bay (at home)
Boston (at home)
Minnesota ( on the road)
Minnesota ( at home)
Baltimore (at home)
Houston (on the road)
Tampa Bay (at home)
Angels ( on the road)
Baltimore (at home)

The fact that we went 0-5 with a chance to sweep against the Rays, Twins, and Angels doesn't sit well with me at all. Win 2 or 3 of those 5 games and we're tied for the 2nd WC and really in the middle of the AL East race.

It's not an argument, it's a fact. The Bankees yet again embarrassed themselves spending eons more than almost anyone else and doing even worse than their usual choking (which at least usually comes after some type of arguable success...like making the playoffs)...this year they got no bang for that insane buck.

The Yankees may get to play spoiler, but nobody is shaking in their boots at the prospect of playing the team that performs the worst in the division when it comes to their rivals this year...the 19-27 Bankees.

Jays currently laying yet another smackdown on the Bankees! Loving that Toronto will be a big part of why NY just couldn't quite make relevancy. They were almost there, sniffing that Wild Card race, but this should put them out of their misery for good.

Yep that series back in mid August sure put the Yanks out of their misery lol. They will wake up on September 8th 2.5 out of the playoffs race and depending on what happens in San Diego tonight, very possible they wake up only 3.5 out of the division lead

This weekend could be the Yankees moment. Baltimore in Detroit and Boston in Toronto. Win 3 of 4 against Tampa and you will make up a few games on at least 2 teams

for all the hand-wringing about Price's bad start to the season, he currently has a 118 ERA+ this year and he'll regain the lead for IP in the AL after tonight's start. His 118 ERA+ is better than his marks in 2013 and 2014. The raw ERA looks worse, but offense is way up from those years. Not to mention he's pitching in a ballpark that's much friendlier to hitters than Tropicana/Comerica. Price has a 3.13 ERA in his last 149.1 innings (not including tonight's game). And that's with a few clunkers mixed in.

He's having a much better first season in Boston than several other big acquisitions.

Moncada's looked pretty overwhelmed in his past few games. I'm excited for him, but I thought the K's would be a problem for him. He's also only played professional baseball since early 2015 and he didn't play in 2014. Still fun to see a preview of his tools though, that speed could be a game changer.

If nothing else, maybe Moncada starting a few games at 3B gave Shaw some much needed rest. Shaw's had a few really good games, it would be great if he's finally starting to overcome his summer struggles.

Couldn't say it any better.

I couldn't be happier with where we are sitting right now, at any point earlier in the season I would have laughed at you if you said the Yankees would be this close to the playoffs at this point.

But I believe it will take 89 wins to make the playoffs in the AL, so the yankees need to go 16-8 to finish the season. That is going to be tough to do.
