Damn, I was looking forward to the Verlander-Sale matchup.
Not me.....
I wouldn't be surprised if this year marks the beginning of his decline phase. That's not to say his numbers are gonna end up anywhere remotely close to what they are currently are. Maybe somewhere in the neighborhood of .320/.400/.570 (which is still great).
Hope I'm wrong and he keeps hitting for a long time. One of the best hitters of my lifetime for sure and a very fun player to watch.
I'm guessing you meant 2010, since Boesch spent a lot more time batting in front of Miggy than behind in 2011. He batted .328/.420/.622 with a 178 OPS+ (led AL).
The Red Wings have scored 2 goals in three games. Quite frankly, fortunate that Howard had a great Game 1 and kept the Bruins off the board, or they'd be looking at a 3-0 series deficit.
The youngsters are overmatched this season, but it's a plus that they've gotten so much PT (out of necessity, due to all the injuries). Getting some vets back next year with the added experience of the young players will make the Wings more of a contender in '14-'15.
They need around 4 new defenseman.....
