red wings hand out a butt whipping to the miinesota wild. I think that was one of those good western teams ...wasn't it mr hockey?????

you don't want to play this Detroit team late in the season. they got winning on there mind!

Actually the Wild are in 7th so no not one of those good western teams.

But a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while...right?

No Embiid = No Natty chances

Still inexcusable to lose to Stanford in St. Louis. Oh well, not a big deal. Should have another really good team next year since we are KU after all.

The possible #1 pick in the country was out, Dougy. Wouldn't expect you to think about that impact.

Yep. Word is Scherzer/Boras proposed 6 years/$175 million to the Tigers, which would have paid Max more than $29 mill a season -- near what Kershaw signed for, and substantially more than the $25.7 mill a season that Verlander's contract is worth. The Tigers rejected that and counter-offered 6 years/$144 million. $24 mill a season is more than fair for Scherzer, IMO. Great pitcher over the last season-and-a-half, one of the best in baseball, in fact. But he's not in Kershaw's class, nor has he been as good for as long as Verlander has.

But that's a Boras client for ya. Hopefully we can at least reap the benefits of Max's "contract year", cuz it will be his last in Detroit.

Its too bad, they should have traded him this offseason instead of fister. I was a huge advocate of trading him (and still am) because it just made too much sense. Now they will end up getting nothing for him when he leaves after this season or signing him to a contract that he does not deserve. Scherzer is not the best pitcher in baseball and should not be getting paid like he is.

Ill go ahead now and predict he gets paid less than 24 mil a year if he waits until the offseason to sign. I just see him putting up a 3.5 ERA and a 1.25 whip this year and dropping his value immensely in the process. Boras is smart too and he should realize that. But hey, maybe a team like the angels or yankees will overspend on him.

With teams knowing that Max is an FA at the end of the season, the trade value will be severely limited at the trade deadline, should the Tigers be in a situation to get rid of him. Might as well see if we can ride him to the WS, before we never see him again.

Wild dominated that game.

Wings should be thankful they even got a point and move on
