Agent investigation names UNC football money man - WRALSportsFan.com

An investigation into sports agents by the North Carolina Secretary of State found that a Georgia man sent cash to then-University of North Carolina football player Marvin Austin and other student-athletes nationwide, as well as tutor Jennifer Wiley.

"Terry Watson was a guy who gave me money," Austin told state investigators in reference to Terry Shawn Watson, of the Watson Sports Agency registered in Marietta, Georgia.

FedEx records back up Austin's claim that he got a package from Georgia sent by Watson associate Patrick Jones. In one instance, Austin stated that he received $2,000 in cash.

...

In a text message, Watson told Chris Culliver, a San Francisco 49er who played football at Garner High and the University of South Carolina, "give me an account number and bank name so I can get u tomorrow." Watson subsequently advised Culliver to delete the messages.

:L:L Cully's having a hell of year so far.

It doesn't sound to me like he is/was only paying college players at Carolina.

Yeah, from the first link:

t is a Class I felony to violate the law, meaning a maximum prison sentence of 15 months, and violations also could carry civil penalties of up to $25,000. Prosecution of the law is left to district attorneys in the locations where violations are alleged to have occurred.

The investigator said Patrick Jones admitted Watson had asked him to send packages to athletes he was recruiting to persuade them to sign with him because it was the only way Watson's agency could compete with bigger agencies, that packages containing cash was sent to athletes at other unnamed schools and that Watson contacted athletes almost five months before registering with the state.

So I'm guessing that he was making himself known around the region. I think Watson was the same guy who was involved with Wes Saunders at USC.

Yeah, probably so. Some of his clients out of college were, Chris Culliver, Antonio Allen, Brandon Spikes, and Allen Bailey. Culliver is the only one he still represents I believe.

Ps, It's not very beneficial and I doubt anything comes of it but there are some things said that are interesting. A lot of it is garbage (About how NC State sucks and the News and Observer), but you may find some of it interesting.
