Gruden would a good hire - he's high profile, and that would help recruiting out-of-state. But I bet he ends up back in the NFL next season.

Gruden would be a grease fire at the collegiate level. And let's face it, he has ZERO incentive to coach at the collegiate level.

I disagree I could see him thinking he could mimick somebody like Sabans success. I think Dan Mullen would be good too.

Once again....he has very little incentive. Just about ANY NFL job that opens up will be calling him......WHY would he take a lesser job?

Are you people serious?

I would be surprised if Tennessee can land a high profile coach right now. They will probably have to search for a diamond in the ruff and pray it turns out better than Dooley.

I could be wrong, but hasn't he said before he's not interested in the 24/7 job that is recruiting at the collegiate level? Like you said, he doesn't strike me as the kinda of coach who'd pass up a NFL job for a collegiate job anyway.

I think Mullen would be good too but he's got alot going for him at Miss St. right now and I doubt he'd leave. UT would probably be able to offer more money but I'm sure Miss St. would do their best to keep him.

I agree about Mullen...would hate to see him with better recruiting across the field.

But...what about

Mangino is actually a very good coach. I think his obesity works against him though, ADs don't apparently take him seriously.

Gruden is indeed in play. People thinking he isn't doesn't have a clue what they're talking about.

Bruce Pearl?? Maybe a hire like that would be good for SEC football. If you aint cheating, you aint trying.

LOL, really?

So tell us, WHY would he take ANY college job over a better paying, higher visible pro job?

And no homeristic impossibilities either. Let's see some logical, rational reasons why ANYONE would do that. Very few colleges can pay what he would command in the NFL, and he doesnt' have to deal with the NCAA or recruiting or anything else.

I can't wait to read this.

EDIT: Gruden is on record as stating just this summer that HE WILL RETURN to coaching at the NFL level when the right opportunity opens up.

So please, TELL ME why he would take a lowly collegiate gig?

LOL - he'll see easily 7 mill in the NFL, better up that offer

Not sure if there's any truth to it, didn't read the thread...too long. could be someone just starting a rumor.
