After 14 games, Zero RBI for Logan Morrison

Not a professional on this topic by any means, but I think catcher gets rated higher because of calling pitches as well as controlling the base paths. A 1B for the most part just has to catch a ball thrown to them.

Like most SABR stats, I think WAR (and dWAR/oWAR) is most useful as a comparative tool.

Not sure how much worse Montero could be than Morrison. It's not like Morrison was even any good last year. 39 RBIs in 114 games (2014 and 2015) from your 1B is pretty pathetic.

Pretty much... Had no idea why the team didn't look for a different option at 1B... McL must really like LoMo... He's only good at watching the arrow Rodney shoots after he completes a save...

I still wish we would've added James Loney. He's not a superstar 1B, but he's a solid player who only makes $7m a year. Morrison is terrible. I want to like him because he seems like a good guy in the clubhouse, but he just sucks.

I said the same thing at last years trade deadline. Not a power guy, but a Olerud type (not as good as Olerud). Like his game.

I was thinking about the issue at first base when NWAZ brought up the "way too early trades" thread. I think you are right a Loney type guy would be perfect for this team. Our 1B doesn't need to be a super star he just needs to be an effective consistent contributor.
