That sucks. Might even make him somewhat ineffective next year. A knee injury this late in the season makes that long recovery window overlap with the start of the regular season. One of my favorite non-49ers players to watch, so hope he can come back strong next season.

I was livid when I heard Frazier was gonna start Peterson. There was absolutely no point in starting him with two games left. That, and I didn't want the Colts to end up with the #1 for selfish reasons.

I'm disappointed he's hurt, but what am I missing? This was a knee injury, not related to his previous high ankle sprain. Why's everyone mad he was playing? Teams don't shut players down just because they are out of the playoffs. Newton played today for Carolina, Reggie Wayne played Thursday, Fitzgerald played in Arizona. Why was playing him today a bad idea? He was healthy enough to go and he wanted to play. I might be slow on the uptake but I don't get all the rage.

ya thats basically a 2 year injury. he should be able to come back midseason, but his knee won't fully strengthen until the offseason. sucks for minny, i thought their offense could surprise next year if they drafted floyd

Sorry to see this happen but the torn ACL is not the devastating injury it used to be. They can repair the knee and he can be ready for next year. McGahee had worse and he came back; Peterson can too.

Dude how much does that suck? He was just about to hit FA & get a pay day of which most NFL players only dream, and he gets one of the most feared of NFL injuries 2 games away from his Ka-Ching.

Can't say I feel sorry for him 'cause he's till filthy rich, but that still sucks. Get well soon AP.

Well, we all know from Frank Gore's torn ACL that it won't end his career... but we know it will more than likely derail any possibility of Peterson going down as the best RB to ever play. Peterson is no longer that big threat to go for 2000 yards in a season, but he will still be able to be a very good back... we just won't see many of those 50+ yard runs where he leaves everyone behind for a TD.

Now with Peterson we'll see him burst through and get run down from behind.. the way Gore does.
