Ok, so no one cares about kickers, really. Unless you have that Gostkowski guy (a dubious comp would be the Clayton Kershaw of the kicker bunch), you really don't care.

I agree.

However...they do score a lot of points if you have chosen wisely, and seriously, I have seen them decide league championships more than once in my years of playing the fantasy game.

On second thought, maybe I don't quite agree with the "don't care" part. A win is a win...is a win.

With that in mind, I've unconsciously targeted a kicker...didn't even realize until after the fact that I'd drafted him in all of my leagues, and that guy would be Matt Prater.

I guess my main thoughts were: high scoring offense, possible flopping in the end zone...a lot of FG opps, and perhaps the stars are aligning.

Whatever...my gut sez he's gonna turn out to be very valuable this year.

As good as Gostkowski? I won't go that far...but remember, even Clayton Kershaw has proven to be mortal.

Prater is my Huckleberry for this year...who's yours?

I took Justin Tucker way before others in my League started to think about who they were taking at K.....was very happy with getting him.

I love Tucker, too; he's right up there, and also in a great "red zone flop" situation.

Same with taking the Seattle defense way before anybody else thought about taking a defense. A good PK and defense can be very valuable.

Dan Bailey is my K of choice when i get to pick, but I won't take one before the last 2 rounds or so, traditionally

Tucker would be the one I'd reach for it I had to reach for one

Thing is, Tucker is no reach. Right there with Gostkowski.

took him with my 4th last pick in the only league I got him. usually dont go K that early, but this one has deep benches, so my team was in good shape when I took him.

I would say Tucker even surpassed Gostkowski by now. Last two years, I believe he's had more points.

But Prater is my guy too. For some reason, always there at the end. Not sure if he scored less than 7 in any week last year. Dome kicker, good leg, good but not great offense. Sign me up.

Good point. I was thinking people had caught onto Tucker by now and was up there with the elite. Could he actually be overlooked?

Get out of my head, Monkey! Yeah, Bailey and I have some history. He has won me two games to clinch a playoff spot in my main league over the past 3 years. In dramatic Monday Night, late in the game, 50 yards where if he misses, I don't make the playoffs type fashion.

I think Prater is an excellent pick. I got him in the 15th round of my money league. 31-36 on FG last year and 17 of those were from 40+. I'm also high on Phil Dawson with the Cardinals. He's been hibernating in San Fran the last couple of seasons.

What's a kicker?

I'm hoping I can hold an extra running back through the weekend and grab the Korean kicker for Monday Night. At a minimum I'll watch how the Patriots deploy their RBs Thursday before maybe dropping Rex/Lewis for one before Sunday.

I don't draft them, waste of a roster spot during the preseason, and even my drafts that have happened this week it still just feels wrong. When the draft ends that's when I decide I need a kicker soon.

Tucker is the one guy going out of your way to get IMO

With Bonus points for over 50, that guy was literally having 20-25 point games last season in my leagues, while the average kicker, you were happy to get in double digits

Last year, not last two years. I should know, I drafted him.

Same with taking the Seattle defense way before anybody else thought about taking a defense. A good PK and defense can be very valuable.

If you are taking your kicker and defense "way before anybody else", you aren't getting good value, and therefor are making a bad pick.
