skinsdad, do you really believe the kid can block? During the several times I saw him try to block, I noted that he could really use some coaching. Then there's his health, though he's seemed to overcome that. I like Helu, but he was, at times, atrocious at blocking. Remember when he basically escorted Alfred Blue right into Tress Way for a blocked-punt TD in Game 1 against the Texans?

This team had a terrible year blocking at the RB and TE position. I am not saying the line is a good line but many times the line took the blame for blocks missed by TEs and RBs. I have said this before and say it again. Blogs are cool, they give you additional things to read about your favorite team but using them as a source for what is right and wrong with a team is not a wise choice IMO.

Yeah we've talked a lot about the poor blocking of the TEs and RBs on this team. Helu can't leave fast enough for me. I'm glad Dad posted this thread. I was a huge fan of the Thompson pick on draft day, this team was and still is in need of speed at the skill positions. But as we all know there is more to being an NFL running back then breaking a few runs in preseason that always fools the uneducated fans who think we have found a player. If indeed these clips are any indication then maybe we have that player in place already.

The concern with Thompson isn't his abilities on the field, it's his ability to stay on the field. He is a small guy with a history of injuries. I see no reason why that will change. I'm just not comfortable that we can rely on him to be there when we need him.
