Board is predictably dead. The last month and a half or so of the off-season is almost always the least exciting.

As we head towards camp, what are the position battles or story-lines that you are looking forward to seeing play-out?

Defensively, it looks like we will have quite a bit of competition for snaps all-around. It's a pretty crowded area.

Offensively, I am most looking forward to seeing how the WR competition plays out. Between Meredith, White, Cruz, Wheaton and Wright... it's pretty much open season for whomever can step up. Obviously, seeing how White looks will be critical. I honestly think if he suffers any type of injury that could keep him out for a month-plus, he could just be released.

Also, will Shaheen step-up and play well enough to demand playing time early on?

The interior up front seems set with Sitton, Whitehair and Long. How will the OT competition play out?

Who will be a lesser known name that will stand-out and call for our attention come pre-season?

I wanna see Glennon in action. Can he hold off rabid fans and the young stud?

I'm not really worried. I'd like Glennon to succeed, but if not... it is what it is. We all know who the future is, and I just hope Glennon stays healthy so we don't have to force in Trubisky too early.

Fans clambering for him doesn't worry me. That comes with the territory of a young QB fans are excited about.

They overpaid for Glennon grossly....

Meh. He's the 22nd highest ranked salary in the NFL. Ahead of guys at the tail end of their rookie contracts, and guys like Brian Hoyer and Josh McCown.

"Grossly" is exaggerating.

What? Outside of Hoyer and McCown, he has the cheapest contract of any starting QB not still on their rookie deal.

How do people STILL, in 2017 not understand the whole "guaranteed money" thing?

For chrissake, he has a buy-out clause after year one. Which will only cost the Bears 4.5 mil in dead cap. Making the grand total paid to Mike Glennon, 18.5 million dollars. That is all he is guaranteed, in the entire deal. 18.5 mil.

There could not be less risk in this signing... There has been ZERO investment made into Mike Glennon going into this team's future. He is being paid 14 million, in a rebuilding year with which we had an abundance of cap-space to use, due to the fact we're not in a position to go after big name free agents.

If he stinks... next off-season, buy-out... SEE YA! Hello Trubisky era, which we're headed towards inevitably anyway.

Ya know, DJ. I'd be surprised if it was anyone else, but I guess having to explain the basics to you is par for the course. :D

Forget the word "grossly"... the word "overpaid" does not even belong anywhere near Glennon's deal. He's ahead of Hoyer, McCown and a few QB's still on their rookie deals. That's exactly where Glennon should be. He gets more than Hoyer and McCown, because he's 27 (they're 31 and 38)... and this is also his first chance to start. As opposed to those guys upteenth.

Glennon's compensation could not be more fair. He has a one-year "prove-it" deal for 14 million (21st highest QB salary for the season), and then a buy-out clause with a #2 overall pick waiting behind him.
