A little while ago, I posted a response to kbo83432 about Tom Brady and better QBs. In it, I mentioned Bart Starr and QBs having the ability to call their plays. My brother read it and we immediately began a conversation over who was the last QB to do that for the entirety of a game. Here's where I need you guys...

He says that it was John Elway and I say it was Terry Bradshaw, so if you know which is correct, or know of someone else, we'd appreciate your input. We have a bet on this one and both agreed not to research it. (It's an old men memory thing) Thanks guys!

Were these full games being called or partial games? I remember Bradshaw and Elway doing it and they continued playing after Gabriel and Tark, Jim Kelly is interesting but I'm not sure if he did it for entire games.

all I recall is marv levy let kelly call plays.don,t know about the duration.

Yeah, that's the hang-up between us, neither of us can recall whether or not Kelly was calling full games. I do remember that they used what amounted to a two-minute drill during games and I'm not sure if that falls into the "calling plays in the huddle" category. Good call though!

I believe Marchibroda began in Baltimore and he made a few other stops, but as I recall Gibbs OC was Don Breaux. ( forgive the spelling )
