Payroll figures are released, so it's pretty easy to figure out which teams are "trying to buy a ring" (aren't they all?), and which teams are the "cheapos."

Kind of ironic that the team that's spent the most doesn't seem to be appreciably better than the team that spent the least.

Word is they've traded David Ortiz to the Orioles. In exchange for getting to host the Tigers again this weekend.

Actually, it was 4 games out yesterday, it's 4.5 after their loss last night. Even so, they're among the last of eight teams within 5 games of the wild cards, and as bksballer pointed out, they've been the worst of them since 4/20/15.

The Tigs have done this two years in a row. Start very hot in April, and then play like a .500 team or worse afterwards. Selective endpoints perhaps, but it's interesting nonetheless I suppose. Also because Doug is so over the top ridiculous that he gets his own medicine sometimes.

When in doubt...always go with the mentally unstable guy! So I'm backing 'dougplayer' on this. Tigers need to buy, buy, buy. One or two pitchers and a big bat and this team has a World Series trip in the bag. Rumors that DD is after Mike Leake from Cincy!!!! Yes, THAT Mike Leake! That would almost put Detroit in the playoffs right there. (Rumors are that we might have to give up Buck Farmer to get him - and THAT will hurt). DD then plans to go after Papelbon (and his fat contract) to use as a set up guy. Might cost us Angel Nesbitt or Ian Krol, however. With those two arms and either Upton from SD or Gonzalez from Colorado....doug and I say, "Buy those WS tickets NOW!

However, there is a law that prohibits Minnesotans from cheering for the Packers. And Illinois laws that do the same.... good thing you live in Florida, they let you do anything.
