If anyone for a minute thinks King EDDIE P could have had the intestinal fortitude to navigate WVU through the conference realignment as Oliver Luck did are delusional...Oliver Luck saved Wv Athletics...it's ironic how the small minded only focus on wins and losses of the football team to benchmark his success...could you only imagine what this all looks like if they were stuck in the AAC?

I just do not get why some feel the need to constantly belittle our past, ANYONE could have got us into the B12 at that time, WVU and the B12 were BOTH desperate........................The BE was imploding, and the B12s media deal said at least 10 teams, come on, get real.

You're kidding yourself. First of all, Eddie Pastilong would have kept us in the Big East. He wouldn't have struck out to find WVU a new home. This is the same guy who ran off Rich Rod because he refused to invest in the program. I think you also forget that UofL was trying to get into the Big XII and damn near did. No sir, we would be in the AAC if not for Luck.

See Mac, here is where you are wrong. According to the Football Expert, IF Louisville would have been placed in the Big 12, we would have been placed in the ACC. If not this go around, then it would have been during the next round of expansion. It's a no brainer. Doesn't even require a brain. We would at least be playing USF, Cincy, and UConn. Since we have history with those teams, surely we would have rivalry games and the World would be good. Like I said - no brainer.

MAC, why do you think that? If you look back, one of the first things that Pastilong did as AD was to take WVU into the BE, a league that really didn't want us. It took a great deal of forethought and more than just a little politicking to get WVU into that league that served us well for almost 20 years. Saying that Pastilong ran off Fraud is just ridiculous, Garrison made promises to Fraud that were some against NCAA rules, some were too expensive, and some were met. I think with the 13-9 game, the right timing for the UM job to come open, and his agent pushing for more cash all lined up perfect for him to bolt. IF Pastilong made Fraud so unhappy in his job, I ask why did Fraud sign the contract extension in August? Why did he turn down 'Bama?

Basketball resisted, sure, but football and basketball were separate. Don't you recall FOOTBALL ONLY MEMBERS?????

The reason we became was not due to any action on Ed's part. It was due to Villanova... Nova refused to allow Temple to be a full member. WVU was their choice and NOVA had WVU added as a full member. You really do forget the structure of the BE...

Ed did in fact run off RR. I know things you don't. I know people you don't. RR had already had preliminary discussions with UM before the Pitt loss.

HUH, in the ESPN 30-30 show, Rollie and Carnesecca both said they in no way wanted WVU in the BE, they did not want to go hear dueling banjos.............. BUT, you know people...................

In three months he totally changed his mind??????????? The contract extension sat on Fraud's desk for months, he signed it in late august, and in THREE months, he decided Pastilong wasn't who he wanted for a boss. Just STOP trying to tear down the past.........

I just know what I was told by someone who worked in the athletic department since the 70's... I'm sure that they were lying to me and that your theory is totally spot on.
