That's going to be just as bad. Maybe even worse, since now there's no padding. It would have been better to have two rounded corners connecting a pane at a 45 degree angle to the rest of the rest of the glass. Then guys would slide off it.

No, it will be fine. According to the league, and lots of folks here, the only reason Max was hurt was because of the weak turnbuckle pad in Montreal. If a player gets his head pushed from behind into this at a high speed I am sure it will be fine.
