We don't know what's going on behind the scenes..........
Yoshi says Martinez determined
Nebraska senior offensive tackle Yoshi Hardrick evidently has a good relationship with quarterback Taylor Martinez, who has endured his share of criticism during his college career.
Hardrick and Martinez exchange texts almost every night, Hardrick said after Tuesday's practice.
Yes, Martinez has heard the fan and media criticism in the wake of his rough performance in Saturday's loss at Wisconsin, Hardrick said.
"He gets a lot of people talking about him," Hardrick said. "I think it finally hit him (this week). He'd been holding in a lot. He said he couldn't take it anymore. He knows he played bad ... I guess you have to man up to the media when you mess up, pretty much."
Hardrick said the players have Martinez's back.
"Everybody loves Taylor," Yoshi said. "He's the team's leader. He's the quarterback. If we turn our back on him, it'd be pretty bad.
"I know he's trying to keep everybody happy, keep everybody upbeat. He's not trying to hold his head down. I know he's trying to do the extra things. At practice, he's trying to be better on his passing. I think he's trying to go through more of his reads. I think he was rushing a little.
"He's trying to take it to the next level. He's tired of being the same quarterback, tired of all the same criticism ... He just told me he was sick (of it). These next seven games, he just wants the world to get off his back, so he's going to do something about it.
"That's pretty much what he told me in a text last night."
