They are reportedly working on a deal that would send, get this: A-Gon, Beckett, Carl Crawford, and Nick Punto to LA.

Crawford just underwent TJ surgery, so a crowded OF would not be a problem this year. If all this went through, the Dodgers payroll next year would be about $200MM committed to 19 guys. HOLY FUCK

If the Red Sox could pull that off, it really would be Christmas in New England.

How awesome would it be if the Doggy's just got stuck with Beckett only?

That would be super awesome. They would have two Joe Blantons in their rotation.

Is that even possible? Beckett has to be tied to AGonz, because as mentioned earlier NO ONE wants Beckett. If AGonz falls through can't the Dodgers just say no thanks on Beckett?

Red Sox now have the power to just dump Beckett on the Dodgers, or pull him back. No going back for LA now.

The speculation is that the Dodgers and Red Sox have an agreement that the Dodgers would only be stuck with Beckett if they also got AGon. If there were no such agreement, then the Dodgers actually have to accept Beckett since they already claimed him.

Wow. Then yeah it would rock for them to just end up with ol' Josh.

There's no way that the Red Sox would pull Beckett back unless they are bound to do so.

The report I read on ESPN sounded like a blockbuster deal is highly likely. Oh well, good for the Dodgers that they can spend more than the Yankees. We're playing well and have an easy schedule. I still feel great about our chances.

Or maybe I just threw out a vague comment early in the year about worrying that the Dodgers were going to be a challenge for us this year. I wasn't really expecting the Spanish Inquisition on my 'method of evaluation'.

Monty Python - The Spanish Inquisition - YouTube

lol a little dramatic but still, isn't debating over the how and why the reason why we're here instead of the mouse board?

You are right one this though. The dodgers, not the dbacks, are our mqin competition

So, the Dodgers ownership bought a 3 bedroom house in the valley for the price of a mansion on the coast, are possibly about to raise payroll by $100MM in just one season which will put them well over the luxury tax threshold which could force them to pay upwards of 50% of their payroll, having it approaching $300MM next season alone!?

I mean the Yankees have been living in the luxury tax for years, but they are smart about their money. And even they are trying to get under it now after the new CBA. The Dodgers seem to be just throwing money around and this could bite them in the ass, REAL quick.

It's so bananas. Maybe they'll trade for Ryan Howard and Jason Bay next. In the offseason, maybe we should approach them about Barry Zito.

I mean, even the Yankees didn't sign Ethier, Crawford, Beckett, Ramirez, and Gonzalez in one offseason. (I'm say it like that because thats basically what the Dodgers did, take on all these guy's contracts w/out giving up much and I left off Victorino/Blanton because they will be FA's)

Didn't they also extend Kemp and Kershaw?

Oh boy.....Dodgers claim A-Gon. I guess we'll see to what lengths the new owners will go.

This is insane.

According to ( Dodgers claim Boston’s Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett off waivers; blockbuster deal close | SI Tracking Blog ? Tracking MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA On Twitter ), the Dodgers were awarded claims on both Gonzalez and Beckett.

And ESPN.com is reporting that the Red Sox are “closing in” on a deal to send Gonzalez, Beckett outfielder Carl Crawford and utility player Nick Punto to the Dodgers.

( )

Three of the guys mentioned are the Sox three highest paid players (and signed thru 2017, 2014, and 2017 respectively). Holy CRAP!

Whoops, sorry. I thought gp's post that I quoted was the last one on the topic (I didn't notice there was another page). How embarrassing.
