I hadnt caught this when the schedule first came out.

After coming off the road loss to ATL, we now play the Jets who are coming off a bye, next we go home to play the Bucs who will be.. .you guessed it coming off a bye.

Talk about your ruff stretch. But I guess to make up for it, we get to play the Pats in week nine after our Bye..

Add to that, even when we do get the Pats coming off of our BYE, they play the Dolphins the week before on Thursday night. So they will be coming off the mini bye basically.

The Scheduling Gods were infact not kind to us this year.

This is just a bad break but we get both Dallas games late when Romo and Dez are back.

The only team in that mix where this should be a factor is the Jets. Let's be real here - they should beat the Bucs regardless of circumstances (if they don't - well - they are pretty much not capable of beating anyone). The Pats should beat them whether the Pats have 2 or 20 days of rest! A Redskins win in that game would be a huge upset - don't see it happening.

I am pretty sure that you could find scheduling quirks like this for many teams. Also - again - fans should not really be expecting huge success in terms of wins this season so at least for me this type of thing is not bothersome.

The reason why I find it bothersome is this. When teams get used to winning, they start to play with that mindset. For years this team has been used to being on the short end. I dont think we need to win the Super Bowl this year, but if they really want to change the culture, this team has got to start actually winning games. Moral victories only go so far. And the reason why it wouldnt matter if the Pats played us two days after their last game is not only because they have the talent, but they have the confidence and the mind set that no matter what, they expect to win that game. The fact that we expect to lose as fans, and that the team likely expects to lose as well...

That is a big part of the problem.

First of all - it doesn't matter about the expectations of fans - we don't play the games. For success moving forward I am not talking about victories - moral or otherwise - this team is in rebuilding mode - like it or not. If they have adequate talent next season or in two seasons the results of this season will be long forgotten - that is the nature of the NFL.

In terms of the Pats - my reply was more based on the talent of the Pats - not on the lack of talent for the Redskins. Just about every team in the NFL will be an underdog to the Pats & in most cases a huge underdog. This will even be true for other teams that are almost certain playoff teams this season.

For just about any team in the NFL to beat them they will likely need to play a perfect game and have the Pats make several mistakes. Now - I certainly will cheer for the Skins to beat them & expect a good effort but I will not be hugely disappointed if they fall short. I would feel the same way if I were a Giants or Eagles fan as well as the fan of any number of teams.
