As everyone knows, the guy didn't show up for OTAs. Again. Some might bristle at what they might view as his petulance and immaturity in this regard, but so long as the guy shows up on Sundays, I'm okay with that.

In the process of skipping out on OTAs, he left $500K on the table. If he really doesn't need that cash, why not show up anyways and give the money to some charity?

On a more important note, D-Jax's "Home Team" has been renewed for a second season on BET. I think it starts airing in July.

Be sure to watch! Right?

I'd make more out of it if this was a new thing. It's not. He's skipped OTAs for his whole career hasn't he?

Yeah when you have a guy like DJax you just have to accept he will do things like not diving into the corner of the end zone, followed by a 3 and out and a FG when he had a TD. This is another one of those things although I'm surprised he would forfeit $500,000. Does that money go back into the cap room?

This is what you expect from DJaX...it happens and you move on. He isn't a team ra-ra guy. He is an explosive playmaker who opens up his teammates.

Most of you have supported my point. He sets himself out as special, different whatever term you want to use. That is my point. My point wasn't that he can't play. Of course he missed most of 7 games last year so if that happens again it is a problem. I am not mad at him, I expected this but it would be so nice if he was there being one of the guys. JMO but I am entitled to it.

Taylor was a workout fiend though. If/when he got hurt. No one questioned if it had to do with him not being in shape. Djax hurt himself last year reaching for a pass that was thrown a yard too long.

I'm not sure we can blame him getting hurt on not coming to otas though. The guys always in shape and people just get hurt. Especially when they're his size and run like he does.

Doesn't bother me at all, plenty of star players have their own workouts where they are most comfortable

Contact injury is not his fault. Pulled muscles that may be prevented...another story.

Exactly. And it wasn't like he left his feet in a full on out-stretched dive. He extended himself not much beyond a normal motion and immediately pulled up hobbling. And sure, that can happen to a player in tip top shape as well as a player who's not in peak shape. And had that happened to say Antonio Brown, Megatron, or a Gary Clark I chalk it up to shitty luck and that's that. Jackson doesn't get the same benefit of doubt that those guys would though.

Is Djax a star? He's certainly electric, of that there's no doubt. Dude is a big playmaker and he can make it happen quick, fast and in a hurry. Plus as G said earlier he opens up the field for everyone else as his speed demands that respect. Look at his career stats though.

He's only played 16 games in a season twice in an 8 year career. He's played in a total of 111 games and started 108 of a possible 128 games. So he's good to miss 2 games per year.

He's had 4 1,000+ yard seasons which isn't bad, but 83.2 yards per game is his best rec yards per game in a season in his career. That's not bad. I dunno if it says star though, particularly in as pass-happy league nd with his speed.

He has 7,814 career receiving yards or 976.75 per season. Not bad, but I personally don't think that says star.

He's only had one season where he caught more than 62 passes, his last year in Philly, when he caught 82 passes. With 442 career receptions he's averaged 55.25 catches per year. Take away his best year, 82 catches, and his worst year, 30 catches last year, and reception-wise he's averaged exactly 55 catches per year which is definitely not star-like.

His average yards per catch for his career is nice, real nice at 17.6 yards a pop. That's certainly star player quality.

He has 42 career TD reception with a career high of 9 TD catches in a season which he's done twice. His other 6 years in the league he's never had more than 6 TD receptions in a season. Does averaging 5.25 TD receptions per year in a 8 year career with no seasons of double digit TD catches say star to you? It doesn't to me.

I know stats aren't the end all be all, but when I look at Djax and the attributes and ability that he has. His speed, his ability to track and adjust to pass, the ability to score from anywhere on the field on any given play, his very good hands, opening up the field for every other skill position player (a great example of this was how the Skins offense opened up with him back in the line up last year) I don't see 55.25 catches, 976.75 yards, 17.6 ypc and 5.25 TDs per year as him getting the most out of his ability and talent. And when you add in the fuck-ups, the pt ret against Dallas, his failure to get into the end-zone against GB, well.......

I'm not saying he's fucked off his talent. I'm not saying I want or think the Skins should cut bait with him over not coming to OTAs this year. But I can't classify him as a outright star either. I like Djax, I think he's gotten a shitty deal far as some of the shit he's been alleged to have been a part of. He's more knucklehead than straight up hard-head, but going into his ninth year in the league and still being a knucklehead, well..once again, heh.

I can't help, but wonder what he could've accomplished with a bit more dedication to his craft. And I was hopeful, still am in fact, that he'd put his knuckleheaded-ness to the side when he signed with the Skins.

He doesn't do the little things, but when he's out on the field, his team does better. He played what? - the last 10 games and really wasn't in the flow in his 1st 2 games. In those last 8 games, I think the passing game was as good as its been. No question that defenses have to plan around him, and we don't have another player who can stretch the field like him.
