Funny to see old, bald, buff Walt Weiss nowadays. When he came up, he was a bit lanky and had the long locks flowing out the back of his cap.

I guess that means he was on the juice. He is stockier now than he was 30 years ago.

Proof!

Fair enough. But the fangraphs UI sucks. The ball/Strike widget does not allow for any filters outside of "called ball" and "called strike". It hard to get a real feel when you have to look at the entire game with no idea which was the first or last pitch thrown.

yeah, it's more of an aggregate look. As in -- did the ump mostly get it right or not. This ump, not so much.

Gotta get Bum at least throu 5. I know wins are a stupid stat, but getting a 20-win season is a nice milestone. At this point, that is one of the goals I would like the Giants to achieve.

Let's do it for Bum!

Question of the day...

You are the commissioner of Baseball, and you have to choose one of the following...

1) both leagues adopt the DH, but the Rockies are moved to another city (Portland, just to name a city).

Or

2) the DH is eliminated in both leagues, but all games are played in Denver conditions.

Which do you choose?

Kuip really needs to chill with his HR call on pop outs that don't even reach the warning track.

Panik Cain and JA coming back in the next couple of days, and although a day late and a dollar short, it would be good to see some nice outings from these three.

Cain?

I don't think so. Panik back tomorrow, JA too. But I haven't read anything about Cain.

Christ, do I have to? I guess universal DH but that's just brutal.

From Gs site:

On Tuesday, the Giants expect to add Matt Cain (elbow nerve irritation) and Jeremy Affeldt (left knee subluxation) to the active roster. Affeldt threw a bullpen session Saturday and is ready to join the bullpen on Tuesday, according to Bochy, and Cain will make his final rehab appearance Monday with Triple-A Sacramento before also finishing the season in the bullpen.

I'm stuck in between these two lines of thinking.
The only reason I am pro-"play him" is because we are just in fall training right now. If we still had hope, I would be in the "shut him down" camp.
