Whiteside's fault.

Clearly.

I always cringe when I see him lurking in the background when the camera points at the dugout. I see him rubbing Vogelsong's arm and whispering "You will give up 5 runs tonight."

The Padres are 44-35 in their last 79 games

If the Giants take 2 of 3 from the Dogs then everything is good .

I have to think that the recent moves of the dogs made them no friends amongst the NL west teams. Not that any extra motivation is needed to beat the doyers but I have to think the target on them became a bit bigger.

In any case, its still an NL west Sh*tstorm the rest of the way.

Time is on the good guys side...tick tick tick tick....

I love it when casual fans ask me "why does that coach get to play?"

Allow me to piggyback and honor a great giant on his birthday

What year did they block off the homer-zone? I thought it was WAY after Candy-Man's time, but it is clearly closed in the background if that pic...

Over the last 11 games, the starting pitchers have gone 2-4 with a 6.47 ERA. In only five of those games the Giants starting pitcher lasted more than five innings. That’d be an awful stretch for any team. For this one, the one built on starting pitching, well, what do you say?

I say: This fucking sucks.

Best line of the day, from MCC:

A Giants team that can't pitch shouldn't win. We've been blithely ignoring that simple fact, sated with this newfound offensive competency.

That's the way I'm looking at it from here to the end: if Cainer, Bum, Tron, Freak, and Zeets can't pitch competently I don't WANT to go to the playoffs. We are a team built on pitching, specifically starting pitching. If that fails we deserve to collapse and gag up the division to the doyers.

As a point of reference, the SP are drawing $56.64MM in salary this season. That's 43.1% of the total team payroll. Sure Zeets makes waaaay too much money (19) and Timmah too (18.25) but Bum is tragically underpaid (0.56) and so is Tron (3), so that balances out. Any team that invests 43.1% of it's payroll on SP HAS TO FUCKING GET EXCELLENT STARTING PITCHING.

That is all.

What the hell happened to these pitchers? Penny in immediate trouble by giving up two singles to lead off the inning. And to think, some argued for him to be the closer earlier in the summer. Hahahahaha. :L

It gets worse...I thought he might be brought in to replace Timmy in the rotation, so they could send him to the minors to work on his stuff.

Ugh.

What we're seeing is simply a rough stretch for our starters, and it happens. It's weird because we're not used to it happening to us these recent years, but it does happen. And the fact that we've been like 7-5 (?) in that stretch means we could tone down our shattiness about it.

Yes we need to see these guys right themselves. I don't see why they wouldn't. If they don't we won't make the playoffs and we won't deserve to.

Great! That sets the bar on the stupidest comment of 2012.

Same here..I thought they blocked off the homer-zone for only half a season and then put up the bleachers as part of the "remodel".

I always think it's strange when a fan is afraid that his team might make the playoffs.

^yep

The short starts exposed a greater concern. The team's weakness in middle relief.

I didn't realize this last night, but I just read that Nady got hurt. Where do we go from here? Blanco's been a failure. Theriot can't hit. Belt should remain at first. How about Pill?

Maybe Arias could play LF. Is Christian back already?
