Obviously, maybe not as bad last time, but…

I'm guessing he's going to be out for the rest of the year. Not sure he'll be able to swing a bat or hold a ball or even catch a ball.

I'm guessing we will see a lot of Ruf and Flores at 1B now. Some Wade as well. This does hurt ... but we have some real good depth on this team.

That has definitely been an issue with him and will be the big reason teams will be hesitant to sign him to a big contract.

Other than the 29 HRs .... his stats for this year are pretty much looking like his 2017 stats.

His injury history will most likely affect his chances of getting a long term contract ... but I think he will attract a lot of attention .... and money .... with a short term gamble .... 1 or 2 years at most. I have a feeling that he may have played his last game as a Giant.

The old, Sabean, regime would have seen this whole Captain thing as a marketing boon and Belt would be back without much thought. And a good portion of his contract would be paid for by Captain merchandise sales.

I don’t get the sense that FZ has this same marketing calculus in his equations, though.

It really depends upon the stats you are looking at. If it's simply BA, HR, RBI than sure.

But if you look at advanced stats like OPS+ or WPA, you can see that he's been elite over the last two years. Very few players have done what he has. That all said, I fully expect the market to be a bit depressed on him. He should get something like 120/4 but will likely get 80/3 or so.

Nah, not close. Going rate for elite hitters. But, his injuries will suppress that.
