From yesterday, I like the headline.

NL West Watch: Latos lit up, Dodgers fall to Pirates | CSN Bay Area

Today, the Pirates are jumping all over the Dogs, 13-6 in the 8th.

New Dodger pickup Jim Johnson Stats, Fantasy & News | dodgers.com pitched 0.2 innings and gave up 8 earned runs.

In his 3.2 innings with the Dodgers, Johnson has given up 11 hits, 12 earned runs, 3 walks and 6 K's for an ERA of 29.45

And we think our bully has issues?

L.A. was leading 5-1 at one point, too.

The Giants' SP has more issues right now than the bullpen. Although, Casilla coming in for a save opp. up by 3 runs still causes anxiety.

The Bully is fine(ish). Our starters need to just stop acting like then (going two innings and thinking their day is done).

Dodgers-Pirates game final. What a thing of beauty. I thought the Pirates would be lucky to scrap more than 1 run off the Dodgers up until the 5th inning. Didn't think that they'd post a 9 spot in the 7th!
Imagine if tzill was a Dodger fan!

The only negative is that the Giants will have to go to PIT for a 4-game series in two weeks. Pirates are now 39-18 at home. Hope the Giants plan on pitching much better there than this weekend.

I seem to recall the last time the Giants picked up a 30 something 2nd baseman with the last name starting with "U", it didn't work out too well.

Maybe the Giants could work a way to call up all of Joaquin Arias, Everth Cabrera, Kevin Frandsen, Brandon Hicks, Nick Noonan and Skyler Stromsmoe from triple A and have them count as one player on the 40 man. Then, each night one guy suits up with the team to play and they share a blended name of "Aricabfranhicksnomoe" on their uniforms. They rotate nightly by alphabet.

Never mind, the RiverCats would have no infield then.

Maybe they could move Duffy to 2B, and ....

Won't happen, but not a bad idea.

Oh wait, Boch said they don't move guys' positions mid-season, unless your name is an article of clothing.

It's the last four words of your post that worry me: when they are healthy.

Obviously, Susser and :gaah: are not healthy, but will come back.

Leake will also come back after missing one more start, we hope.

But Oxy is a hot mess right now, with two balky knees. His BA and OBP have plummeted, and his defense and range are less and less stellar.

With Seaweed getting hit today, back to the concussion DL for him? Bring up JP from Sacramento?

And the starters looked very weak, except for Peavy. Cain just doesn't seem to have much control. It was nice to see Patty go 2 scoreless innings today, lowering his ERA to 5.59.

Health is the deal at this point in the season. For all teams.
True. I guess i just view this with a cup half full mentality. If the Giants get healthy and make a run.....awesome. It'll be a fun October.

If they don't and they miss the playoff.....3 in 5 years.....plus Bum and the rest of the staff can save their arms, have a long layoff and refresh.....just like the players who grind out 162.

I'm probably alone in this (or just weird), but it's hard to be mad at the guys who battle for each other and win so often when the chips are on the table.
