I cannot believe how crappy our hitting has been. Cal said earlier in the year how he didn't expect we'd have trouble scoring runs. I agreed. But now, we can't even hit scrub pitchers. What the heck is wrong with this team?

Most of the offense is hitting worse this year than 2015, consider (15;16):
Buster Posey - .318/.379/.470; .291/.365/.461
Brandon Belt - .280/.356/.478; .283/.396/.490
Joe Panik - .312/.378/.455; .239/.309/.371
Matt Duffy - .295/.334/.428; .253/.313/.358
Brandon Crawford - .256/.321/.462; .278/.344/.439
Gregor Blanco - .291/.368/.413; Denard Span - .262/.332/.357
Angel Pagan - .262/.303/.332; .282/.327/.427
Hunter Pence - .275/.327/.478; .286/.360/.447

Obviously, this is a simplistic view because many guys have been injured either last year, this year or both and replacement players come into play. However, these were the main guys coming into 2016. Only Belt and Pagan have improved completely. Both Pence and Crawford get on base more but they are getting fewer extra base hits.

As the SP produces more QS consistently, things should get better. You would think that the hitting will get going again. It's just been so consistently bad after the break, though, that it just doesn't seem like it will come around soon. When one or two guys get going, hopefully the hitting will be contagious. Still 49 games left to go.

Good article about the hated Dogs. If their management ever gets a clue, and it sounds like they are starting to get it, they will be very good. And that's good for the rivalry.
