That's like blaming the fireman for the fire.

That's something to pathologically complain about when there's nothing else to complain about.
No. It's blaming the fireman for using gas instead of water.

don't be a dimwit.

with the bases empty, he is giving up an OPS of .349. With RISP, he is giving up an OPS of 1.143. That is significant.

My guess is that there is a mechanical issue with his stretch delivery, and he is getting those opportunities precisely BECAUSE of this mechanical issue.

I also suspect that these splits are precisely why he is the teams primary opener.

But we are only talking about 21 PAs w/RISP. While the numbers aren't good, I'm not sure we are talking about a statistically significant sample.

Also, how does he compare to the league averages? How did he do last year, and in years prior?

Edit:

Here's his 2022 numbers w/RISP. His OPS last year was .662. Case closed.

Relievers are super volatile because there is no such thing as a non-SSS. You have to over-react to their trends, and/or look at specific outings rather than overall stats. I almost never look at “traditional” stats when looking at relievers. I like looking at game logs primarily, and them look at k/ip (or k/9), WHIP, OPSa, runners on vs basses empty, etc. Looking at ERA is almost completely worthless for relievers.

Generally agree. But his ERA above is glaring.

Giants bullpen in April: 6.15 ERA
Giants bullpen in May: 3.72 ERA

The bullpen tends to be the most fluid part of any roster, but they weren't going to be as bad in April. It helps that Jakob Junis' usage has changed recently and Taylor Rogers has found a rhythm. Now if we can just jettison Brebbia we might be ok.

Using your own cherry-picked stat…

Brebbia = 4.26
Junis = 4.50

Using “better” stats…

Brebbia = 1.158 WHIP, 2.13 FIP, 13.3 K/9, 4.0 K/W
Junis = 1.654 WHIP, 5.06 FIP, 10.0 K/9, 2.42 K/W

But, in your defense, the only stat that matters…

Brebbia = Christian
Junis = Jew

So we all know why you support Junis and want Brebbia gone.

Unrelatedly, when is Wade getting cut? Just play Davis at 1st and be done with it.
