We take 3 of 4 in this series. GREAT!! Exactly what we needed to do.

Now we host the Crew. We have not won a series against a winning team in 3 (three, tre, tres, triple, trio, III) months. While we will not be mathematically eliminated if we do not win the series, it will further show that we simply do not belong on the same field as other good teams as well as making the mountain we need to climb that much higher.

And PLEASE do not bring up comparisons to 2010. This team is NOT the 2010 Giants. That team had an all-time top 50 rotation. This team MIGHT have a 2014 top 7 rotation. There simply is no comparison between the two teams.

I know you are not saying this, but there is a myth out there that the Giants are poor when playing >.500 teams. Truth is, they are third in the NL against >.500 teams. They are 28-28.

However, they are only 39-30 against sub .500 teams. The doyers are KILLING sub .500 teams (about 20 games over .500) and actually are below .500 against good teams.

The keys if we are going to catch them are threefold:
1. 4-2 against the doyers; and
2. 12-5 against the snakes, puds, and rox
3. 3-3 vs. Suds/Tiggers

That would leave us at 90-72, which is playoff worthy.

The doyers have 19 games against bad teams, and 9 against good teams.

If they go:

1. 2-4 vs. us and 1-2 vs. Nats; and
2. 11-8 vs. the crap

They will end up 90-72 as well.

That's what we're up against. The killer is the record vs. Puds (6-6) and Rox (6-8). If we had just taken care of biz against these two doormats, we'd be in first place.

Great stat. However, that is the whole season. I am looking more at "what have you done for me lately". Since the end of May, what is our record against these same teams? Seeing as we have lost EVERY series against them, I am guessing it isn't very good. And 3 months does not qualify as a SSS.

I was listening while driving I-15 to St. George, Utah.
Dude if you've never been on UT 12, do yourself a favor and see the sights. I usually do it on a motorcycle but a car can be good too.

Petit sets MLB record as Giants win 4-1 and take the series

Yusmeiro Petit went 8 2/3 innings last year perfect and Chavez from the D-Backs broke it all up with a single to right just out of the reach of a diving Pence. Everyone at Memory Park in San Francisco today was pulling for him to do something special and when he did a cheer went up for the man from Maracaibo,Venezuela. The 29 yr old has battled for years to get to the bigs and he went out and set a MLB record for retiring 46 straight batters passing Mark Buehrle who had 45. He also passed a former Giant Jim Barr for the NL record. :yo:

The weather was a perfect sunny 68 degrees as Blanco stepped up to the plate in the 2nd inning and he put a jolt into ball sending it 359 feet into the arcade in right. Up 2-0 Petit kept the Rockies at bay only giving up 1 ER and striking out 9 in his 6 innings of work. Petit spun a beauty which was nice to see.The Giants tacked on one run in the 6th and one in the 8th to finish off the scoring and the Rockies. It was a nice tidy 4-1 win as Pagan , Pence, Sandoval, and Susac all played key roles in the game. The bullpen was clean for 3 innings as Casilla got the save.

More memories made in what I call now Memory Park as I got a chance to witness a MLB record by a guy who has bounced around the league and has finally found a home in the city by the Bay. Only in America and only in baseball do you see a story like Petit's. Another great story with plenty more to come as the Giants seemed to have hit a nice groove here at the end of August. All 4 starters in this Colorado series stepped up and did a good job.

The lead by the Dodgers is down to 4 1/2 in the West and only 4 in the loss column. Got to turn it up another notch now that Central leading Milwaukee comes to town for a big three game series over the weekend and they will be a good measuring stick on where the Giants stand in the NL. Vogelsong gets the call Friday night and the Orange will be bright in the stands. Another day to believe and it's nice to be able to believe going into September for the stretch run at the playoffs. Ready...set....Here we go.

Go Giants !!

I got a chance to meet Kruk who is big as a mountain later in the day at a pizza restaurant . I did'nt realize just how tall he is before today. He was real cool and took pictures with all the people there. Bochy was there too and I got a chance to say congrats to him on his 1,600th win. He had a huge smile on his face after the game. Hey it's good to win. Good guy. He will be a Hall of Famer when he retires.

Another great day at the yard.

We stopped at Arches National Park and Zion. Spectacular! On our way to anniversary celebration (#34) in Redondo Beach, then home to the Modesto area.
