Cervelli can run for a C.
Vogey has given up 1 run in 11 innings in his last two starts. He struggled here in the first, and now he's pitching his heart out.I enjoy good baseball, not shitshows.
Yesterday, for instance. Great game. We lost, but the game was highly enjoyable.
Watching a guy who should be long relief at best struggling to find anything resembling control and failing miserably isn't "baseball," it's a doomed mismatch where my team has zero chance.
How you can enjoy that is beyond me.
He has. Let's drop it.Vogey has given up 1 run in 11 innings in his last two starts. He struggled here in the first, and now he's pitching his heart out.
Please just take the night off and leave. Now.
NO!Can you feel the love tonight?
Tz, I have a feeling that you'd have a quick hook as a Manager/Pitching Coach.....(deleted)
It depends upon the team and the pitcher. Tonight, you KNOW that 3 runs is pretty insurmountable by a team with Pence and Panik out, and Posey sucking. Further, you also KNOW the odds of Vogey being solid the rest of the way are slim. So, not only would the Giants need to score 4 tonight (unlikley), they'd need to shut the Pirates out the rest of the way (very unlikely). Add it together, and you've got basically a game that's over.
Even Fangraphs has us at a <10% chance to win. How you enjoy futilely watching for that 1 in 10 shot is beyond me. Life is waaaaaay too short for bad baseball.
Vogelsong does seem to be struggling in this game. The first inning was horrible but while he's done better in the 2nd and 3rd, his pitch count is high. I hope he can last through the 5th inning.
Eleven runners in 3.1 innings, not good. Here's to Petit keeping it close.3.1 innings. At least we have a day off tomorrow, and the Pen is pretty rested.
I cannot even see the game. I recently purchased mlb.tv but found out that the Sunday night games on ESPN are blocked. So I'm stuck with following game cast instead . . . and relying on all of you fellow posters' astute observations.Part of the problem with this game is that we are stuck with the ESPN announcers.
They have talked more about the Steeles and Diamondbacks in this game than they have about the Giants.

Its games like today that makes me wonder how he even has a 4.08 ERAIt's just weird to see Vogey so erratic. He walks a lot of guys, but he lives on the corners so he's bound to lose a few battles. Today he was just all over the place, and walked even more guys.
