Samardzija has pitched pretty well his last 10 starts, averaging just over 6 innings a start. I know that isn't deep from previous decades but if he can go 6 full while allowing 2 or 3 runs, I think we've got a chance. Of course, that is a big if with the way the bullpen has thrown lately.

Giants have given up 1st inning runs in five straight games, and 11 out of the last 16.

In the five games they did NOT give up first inning runs, they won four of them. (4-1)

In the eleven games they DID give up first inning runs, they lost 7 of them. (4-7)
