Giants COST 122, Pirates GETTING 112. Cain vs Locke. Nice matchup, but I think I would take the odds, if I had to. I am not betting his one.

O/U is 7.5. I am taking the under, and feeling real good about it.

Blanco with his @!%&^#$#!@&^%$ FPOM.

As soon as someone is on base ahead of him, he seems to want to see fewer and fewer pitches. Ugh.

OTOH, the Giants have come back to tie the game. Amazing.

Why is Moscosso still with the team? He couldn't but it with the Rox.

In 17.2 innings with the Giants, he has given up 13 hits, but walked 14, hit 3 batters, but K'ed 20.

He started tonight's disaster inning with a HBP and two walks.

If he is going to be this bad, let one of the kids pitch.

And the hitters respond to the 7 run Pirate inning by going 1-2-3 grounders. :tsk:

The Pirates are a good team. And the silver lining is that we are getting closer to a high draft pick. As much as I hate losing, especially at home, it is some small consolation.

I'd rather lose WS games than pointless August games that continue to reveal the awfulness of this team's season.

But yeah, the Pirates are one of my secondary teams to root for. Certainly won't be the Reds or Cards or Braves or (shudder) the Dogs.

In the last 10 games, Mijares has thrown 8.1 innings, given up 14 hits, 11 earned runs, walked 7 and K'ed 7.

WHIP = 2.52

ERA = 11.88

Nicely done. Hey Sabes, how about an extension for this guy? $7 million per ought to do it. :doh:

So in the last 3+ games, the Giants have been outscored 31-7.

Not that it would have made a difference, but they are 1-19 with RISP in that span.

Does anyone on this team care anymore, or are they making post-season golf plans already?

I just watched the highlight. It looked bad at first (looked lie hit his elbow), but after watching it a few times, I am not worried. He immediately put weight on it.

Now...

PUT HIM ON THE 60 DAY DL!!!

No need to trot him out there any more this year...

UPDATE: Cain is fine. X-rays were negative; he has a right forearm contusion.

Matt Cain was pulled in the fourth inning of Thursday night’s game with the Pittsburgh Pirates after getting drilled by a line drive in the fourth inning.

Cain appeared to be hit on his right forearm by a screaming line drive off the bat of Gaby Sanchez. He crouched down right away and manager Bruce Bochy and trainer Dave Groeschner ran out to the mound. After a short discussion, Cain walked back to the home dugout and then went back to the clubhouse. Groeschner and Bochy followed.

Cain had been struggling before getting hit. He gave up three straight singles to open the night and the Pirates went up 3-0 on a pair of homers in the second. Guillermo Moscoso replaced Cain.

Will update on Twitter when we know more: @AlexPavlovic

Totally and completely concur. I'd shut Bum down a little early, too. If the hitters will not, cannot cooperate by at least making the games competitive, let the kids throw.

And like with Frenchy and GQ, I am so done with the Moscoso experiment. Guy walks everybody. Send him to Fresno where he and Runzler can walk people to their hearts' content.

I disagree about Bum. He needs to be stretched out. He hit the wall last year and was worthless in the post season. He needs to know how to pitch past 200 IP.
