We already talked about yesterday's game. Why start another thread about it?

Side discussion for the thread today...

Assuming the season ended today, and the Giants were not in the playoffs, who would you root for? And ABD does not count. That is a given.

No ABs v. Ross; Harper and Espinosa with Bum ownage.
First time through will be tough for the Gs, as they don't tend to hit new pitchers well. If Bum can be gotten to, it's early, so if we survive the first 3 we should be sweeptastic.

Govern those governing governors. 7-2 good guys.

I have been thinking a lot about why the Giants don't hit new pitchers well. It is such a weird trend. Why does this happen?

I have a theory. Coaching and scouting. The Giants are always so well prepared by their coaches and scouts that if they "have film" on a guy, he is meat. If he is an unknown, the Giants don't know what to do, and end up flailing.

So why don't other teams have this same hole?

First, I am not positive they don't. I wonder if there has ever been a study of how teams fare against pitchers over time, and if there is a way to determine, statistically, if team A is better than team B at this.

Assuming the Giants are, actually, bad at this, I think it means that the hitters are good BECAUSE of their preparation. They are not a good "off the cuff" team. When left to their own devices, they weakly swing at early-count pitches and end up giving ABs away.

Just a theory...

Cubs or Pirates.

Long-sufferering fans, a lot of players to root for on each team…

Unfortunately, one of them will likely eliminate the other given the scenario above.

Ks galore…with a hitter friendly umpire.

What the heck is happening?

And all of a sudden, the umpire's zone gets unrealistically large.

Sorry. My head was up my ass.

I heard 6 straight ks and figured they were only talking about Ross.

They hit some rockets off Bum in the second...no harm; no foul.
